UKGSer 'Dent event' Friday 19th - Sunday 21st May 2017

A whole lot of outstanding work and key note speaker preparations for next week will unfortunately mean that when I leave at lunchtime most of it will not be finished :D

Up the A1 for me then A659 across and up through the middle of the Dales, it's my best how do I get into the Dales without towns and do as much of the Dales to Dent as I can route.

...if you get buzzed by a Hexhead GSA with a Yellow Top Box it was me

Nicest and maybe best route, in my book, is straight up the A1 to junction 50, A618 to Masham and Leyburn, A684 to Hawes and in ... lovely biking roads but maybe some caravans on 'em

See ya later

:beerjug:

.... I've used that one before and nip the Leyburn corner off by crossing between East & West Witton

I like the route in of the A659 which takes me to Pool in Wharfdale then its North to Greenhow Hill and across to Grassington and onto roads that always make me feel great what ever the weather - Up pass Kilney and then onto Hubberholm alongside that lovely river then the climb over top and down into Hawes - I'm a man of habit :D

Yes ... thats a lovely route anyway :thumb

Enjoy

Thanks Micky....

It was a short visit for me but as always most enjoyable...

After a lovely tour of the Dales best roads and cafes, thanks JB, I decided I was fresh enough to make the dash home rather than camp and leave early.

It's 60 miles from High Lanes to the Shell Garage at Pool and every one a cracking one, there's nothing like that down South so even the trip home is a delight.

Even though the weather rotated from good to crap all the way back at Newark I experience the best rainbow I've ever seen truly fantastic, biblical even! Black sky and a perfect full colour rainbow with a full ground to ground view of it in front - Had to be on my guard as people were trying to drive and photo and others were diving into parking spots to do the same.

Must buy a bigger tent for next year :D

Cheers

Hey Micky, shall I bung photos from the weekend in this thread or is there likely to be another one for piccies? Cheers, cracking weekend, :beerjug: thanks again :bounce1. Alex

Thanks once again Micky, I had a great weekend. Banter was fantastic, Stu (brut33) hilarious, especially when he wandered into the George and Dragon restaurant plonked himself down at our table and orders a chip butty. It's considered gourmet food in St Helens. You just can't buy class, nice one Stu :thumb

Thank you Kev :thumb

No charge, help yourself to as much bier as you want .... but put a generous donation in to the box for each drink (like an approximation of its real price) all of which will go to The Great North Air Ambulance :thumby:

CCTV in operation :D

Now some photo's of this evening ... a beautiful evening indeed :thumb

N'night folks :thumby:

:beerjug:

I missed free beer!!!!!!

I share your pain :tears:tears

On the plus side, we missed Rocket Ron also. :D just do not understand that attitude. If there's an issue, post a PM to Micky with some positive suggestions but that kind of dummy spitting is beneath contempt given the work Micky and others put into this event.

I'd like to thank Micky and everyone else for making my first Dent good fun!
It was good to put some faces to names too.
Now I'm settled in at home the sun is shining and it's warm - what a pity it was drizzle all the way home!!!!

Thank again,

Iain

Fantastic weekend AGAIN Micky thanks for organising it and enduring all those craft ales in the Sun Inn on our behalf. Its a tough job but someone has to do it 🏍🏍🏍
