Just got a 2610. It works fine apart from the noise. It is like putting your ear by a washing machine on full spin. The noise happens with the speaker and cigarette socket set up in a VW golf and the power cable set up - garmin one with the 2.5mm socket. It is wired direct to 1150GS battery.
I can only get rid of the noise by turning the sound off. The volume does go down as you turn the volume down. It also seems to reduce itself after a few minutes and then increases again. It is much more than a hum as mentioned in other links. It is either a faulty unit or else I am missing something very very simple. Any ideas???
I am off to Ireland tomorrow but will check responses if at all possible.
