who turns off their lights? Plus the KTM light is pretty weak and ineffective at night according to KTM owners.

comfort seat should come standard on a bike this expensive and purportedly designed for long-term travel.

It may have the tank range but since you can't sit in the saddle for more than 50 miles according to BIKE I guess it's a non-issue.

I meant that the switchgear is rubbish - ie poor quality / looks naff / jesus I'm paying what for crappy equipment.

OK you're another owner who loves the bike but is selling. If it's not personal, why did you sell? Also which model GS did you buy? I'm thinking PD.

I sold my Ninja because I realized that it didn't fit my riding anymore. Specifically I wasn't doing as many trackdays as I used to. My 600 would fulfill that role without the added expense a 1000 runs (insurance, tires, maintenance etc.). Was it similar for you or was it something else?

Galoise -I think you are being a bit harsh here (NOT)- this free contributor from canada ( go on be a sponsor at least we might take you more seriously ) has never owned a GS other than a 1200 and extoles the virtues of the 1200 as a superior in every way machine - - and has engaged in the same style of commentary - at least it s good to see he is at least consistant in the diatribe he puts out !- Get a life Mr Ottawa and leave us alone or at least pay a few quid to air your complete "bollix"........

hi guys
when i decided to buy a big traile i was very biased towards KTM haveing owned a 620,2x300's,2x520's in the past 7 years.on the road the in the last fifteen years it was GSXR'S and TL 1000'S but they were getting uncomfortable(or was it me getting older)i got a tiger,it was a good bike but i found it boreing and i had seen the 950 in the P-D and it looked fugginawesome,also the 1150 ADV was out and i liked the look of that(in an english bullterrier sort of way) i got a test ride on the 950 and it was awesome bit of kit BUT it was just like all there other bikes ie a DIRT BIKE seat like concrete,forks that plummet when you touch the break's,ect,ect also two-up not good with that v-flat slopeing seat,new(un proved)engine i know it's won the P-D but that's not revelant to showroom bike's,the fact that it seemed like the dirt bike dealer's were selling it did not do much for me seeing that thay do not what a warranty is.i test rode the BM and loved it, much better on road ,handling as good as a sports bike in the real world,big tank(still ran out once)absolutey fantastic two up with luggage,camping gear across europe and the look of it as well, i love it.rode the 1200 at garmish on the off road test track and was inpressed with it's lightness and handling but it's not for me,the KTM will allways be better offroad due to the forks,wheel's and width.iwas talking to a guy with 13000 m on a 950 at the horizion's meet with no trouble.my ADV has done 14500 m in 1 year,all weather's,raced offroad(cambrian rally),green-laneing and generally thrashed when ever i get the chance and it's never missed a beat.as well as all that you've got this forum !!!the only problem with GS ownership is that start getting into them more and more,i want a tricked up 800-1000 for offroading now cheer's...loz

1.Experience - You have not had a GS previously.
2.A KTM - either owned one or had the experience of having to get parts etc.
The point I am simply making as was Galoise , that on what" DO you" actually base your opinion - I was amused to hear your continued opinionated bleating based on experience that you dont have - a point that was not mised by Galoise.I just find it amusing , nothing more.
3. As I have said I have noproblem with your opinion- its just how you seem to have plucked it from the air , that interests me. You have had a number of machines , none BMW , never mind GS 's
4. Alright Peter, last time then I'm done with this:
1. Peter a point of view doesn't require facts. You have one on the GS yet you back it up with nothing concrete. I accept yours but I don't agree with it. See the difference?
2. What does owning a GS before have to do with my opinion on a KTM?
3. What does owning a KTM have to do with me reading posts on OC in advrider that describe the continuing problems of NA riders in regards to getting parts for their 950's in NA. That's what I'm basing my opinion on, considering I'm in the market for one. People's posts over @ OC which focuses on the KTM 950 in advrider.
4. Peter I own a 12GS. Why are you confused on this point
5. Proving to you that I have that mileage would be my last concern. What would a picture show since you've never seen me and how would you know its my bike. Grow up, get a life, and go for a ride on your real GS. I'll go ride my faux GS or is it a Vstrom or a Tiger, or a KLR or...
