Underseat Tank

Sniffy,
I'm interested.
Seems like a good design.

And if you are going on a longer ride whee you need the fuel I don't think the weight is such a big deal because you have to carry it anyway.
Unless I guess you get a bigger tank and then a certain percentage will be over the front shocks too.
And I think if you are on a longer trip you won't be doing as much hectic work on the shocks anyway: taking it easier. It's more of a journey than a bash session.

will be a little while yet, so dont worry........ we can alway send it to another address so your wife does not find out...:augie

The wife is not the problem we just lost another job to someone else and I did a load of development for that as well...

bolox...

Guess I`ll take Richies place as Ive just bought his HP2. Unless he wants one as an ornament still.:)

Sold

I havent seen the money yet!!!

I like to think that it was realistically priced rather than a bargain!! As much as i loved it, it wasn't getting used as it should be, and i know that Gaz will have the opportunity where he lives.

And the tank would look rather good by the fireplace......but i'll let Gaz go for it instead!

Beside, i have a very special replacement coming for the HP......watch this space for pics

It works

with Enduro wheels ???
I make tank of polyethylen and my experience is, that the tank don't have to be lower than the rear frame. With 18" wheel you need a extra cavity.

Please think about your construction - so it didn't work

Hi eddy55, do you have a price for your tank set-up ? Could you indicate a cost to post across to the united kingdom ?

Hi,

I have seen your tank before and think its a work of art:thumb. Do you make the timers yourself or are they available on the open market.... Love the stuff you have done to the bike as well.:)

After doing 1500miles this weekend with the tank in position, its is fine under normal road conditions.

However once you start to jump the bike (got some good air off a few humpback bridges:)) the back wheel does touch the tank. I am going to have it made smaller to reduce this problem.

I am aiming to give the bike a 200 mile range, clearance with an 18" wheel might be a problem just depends on how hard you ride offroad or if like me the tank is going to be used more for road use.

Cheers

Hi Guys,

Well finally got around to getting the underseat tank designed and made up. It hold approx 9 liters, think the final design will be between 8 and 9 liters.

I am thinking of doing a one off production run of these tanks with all the fittings and fuel pump. It will be less expensive than anything on the market (I would know as I have spent along time looking!). It would fit the HP2E AND MM.

I am just trying to see how much interest their would be. If you know of any other websites where people might be interested, then please let me know or post a link to this thread.

The tank is made of 2.5m aluminum, except for the underside which is made of 3.0mm so is more resistant to stone impact. The pump I have sourced has a one way valve so that fuel can leak back from the made tank. The system is very simple to plumb into the existing fuel lines.

If you have any questions or are interested let me know so I can see if its worth producing a batch of these.

Cheers

Just a bit :topic

Have you tried to make auxilliary tanks for anything else? I've got a Kawasaki ZX12R and have often thought about turning the under seat area into a tank but don't have the skills to do so. The standard tank range with Akropovic is 95-115 miles! Another 8-9 litres would transforn it?
