Tower Bridge was partially raised today. The vessel passing through was…. Um….. pretty modest:

In a word, no.

It often goes up and down, several times a day.

For big vessels, the two road sections are raised to vertical. It’s an odd sight, if you are the first vehicle, halted in the queue.

I have never been into the bridge’s bascule chambers.
