After long investigation with dealer we have the following offer for the gearbox issue and the vibes.

New 2014 engine to be fitted along with a new drive shaft and front wheel plus brake lines.

A solution I suppose ..........:clap

Only thing is I have to run the bugger in again doh

Well, it is a result , but sound like an expensive exercises . It would be cheaper to give you a new bike , unless you didn't want to go down that route ?

+1, a result but seems a bit odd when a new bike would have been the better option all round - :nenau

A new bike = no labour for fitting the old frame to the new engine. Thinking about it the OP should push for a new bike because there will (ok, could) be all sorts of quality issues with all that work to be done.

Not 100 percent sure on the engine costs but would have thought a lot cheaper than a new bike . I am happy with my bike and only need the engine changed so I am happy with that as I feel attached to the bike and travelled 7000 plus miles last year and have no issues with the chassis .
Only worry may be in the warrantee I may be offered , this I will discuss with the dealer tommorrow and clarify.
Another 2 years would be acceptable , if not watch this space .

Regarding warranty it's warranted whilst the bike is ie if there is 4 months left on the bike you get the remaining on anything that is done, if you make a gesture to pay towards any warranty work you than get 12 months warranty on any work, I've done this twice on bm bikes, once on a f800gs, needed a new engine, there were 2 months left on bike warranty so I paid 1 hrs labour and got addition 12 months warranty on the engine. Another bike was a k12 I did the same, ask your dealer about this, not all want you to no this !

FairPlay to BMW they accept the faults and will rectify these, and that alone is kind of assuring that they will see ya right, I'm sure there ain't any other manufacture that will look after there customers as such, I no Ducati won't I've tried :(

You know what I'd do in this situation.:rob:D

Join the club. Mine was done last week and so far the bike is transformed. Engine, clutch, gearbox and tranny changed. Running in again but it's worth it .

Stick, will this mean another trip to Hilltune, or is that mod unaffected?

No the tune is on the ecu , they are changing the engine and transmission as a unit , so all the other parts , ecu , injectors etc etc are not being changed.
Saves me a few quid on the retune

But Surely your map will need tweaking to take into account that engine characteristics are different and the same map is not used on another bike.
