Bit of back ground:

zumo 660 on latest SW (3.30)
maps on PC and 660 are 2010.10
2010.20 has arrived on a DVD :bounce1

When I put the DVD in the PC, I get :

a "connecting to server" window (I am connected),
then it pops up a "downloading" window, and you see the progress in percentages,
then that closes and a command window briefly appears, and then that closes,
then nothing.

There are no other instructions with the DVD other than "stick it in the drive and follow on screen instructions" - go into Mapsource and cannot see anything there (I even tried entering the 8 digit code that came with it but that didn't work). I've tried using the unlock wizard, but just end up going round in circles.

So I'm proper stuck - any ideas before I get onto Garmin?

cheers

Markie

Well that would explain it - they sent a 2010.10 DVD. Apparently in the next couple of days when their systems are updated the DVD will "phone home" and download the 2010.20 maps. Good folks that they are, they are refunding my money for the DVD I paid for.

There you go - these things happen but they dealt with it well.

Pat

you may not want to read this but it's down loading as I type. Will probably finish over night and then we'll see how easy it is to a) get it on the 660, b) copy it over to my other computer!

cheers

MArkie.

I just saw your posting. Went and got my GPS and tried again.
What do you know,,? I am downloading as I type this.:bounce1

I have 518 "sections" in total (I think) and am on 18 now. Then hopefully it will install onto GPS.

Thanks for the heads up.:bow

Well, all was fine when I left it to download overnight.:thumb
9.30pm I wrote of how many section there were. 518 I thought.

At 12.00am this morning there were 445 sections downloaded.:thumb2
Fully expected all to be downloaded and installed this morning.

6.00 am this morning message saying downlaod had failed and asked either to go back and try again or download off disc.:nenau

Chose down off disc but had same message which started all this trouble.:tears

Really, really, really pissed off now.:pullface:pullface

Pat,

please look away now.

Mine downloaded over night, no idea when it finished, but this morning all 518 had downloaded, no error messages, and a message saying "x.20 installed on computer". Checked Istanbul in Mapsource and it's definitely worked.

So before I fire up google - anyone know how I can copy 2010.20 to my other home computer without having to download again?

I assume when I "transfer maps" via Mapsource to the Zumo, the 2010.10 will be deleted to make room?

cheers

Mark

How can I look away now after reading what you managed to do.??
You lucky so and so ya.(polite version).

I have had my RMA Number from Garmin and asking me to return unit to them. They also advised me to send it registered post at my expense too.:eek

I can honestly say here and now I will never have another Garmin.:(

After a week of answering silly questions and telling him all the info he asked for he NOW asks me the same questions but put the answers in Block Capitals.!!!:tears

Is he a retard or what? He already has the answers. WHY do I need to put them in Block Capitals,, as if that's gonna make my unit work or not.:blagblah:blagblah:blagblah

Sorry not in Rant section.:pullface

Be Safe:thumb2

If you have a home network just transfer the original file which you downloaded garmin_rmu_cneunt2010_20.exe to your other computer and run it. I'm assuming you do have Mapsource installed on your other computer, if not, you'll need to do that first.

I assume when I "transfer maps" via Mapsource to the Zumo, the 2010.10 will be deleted to make room?

If not, you can just interrogate the internal memory with Windows Explorer and delete the original maps to make room.

Thanks Schtom - all sorted now, 660 maps were updated in place so no need for any extra messing.

Probably best to to mention this to Pat :augie

cheers

Good luck Markie.

No problem with not mentioning anything to me. I won't tell anyone either.:pullface

Finally got round to sending off my Sat Nav to Garmin.
Mate at work has offered me his if I need to use one whilst mine's away.
EMailed the guy, who replied saying I should have a fully operational unit within 5/7 days.

Wait and see.
