Urgent help required please...

There is a Hnda dealer here in Tralee so I think I'll pop down in morning to be on the safe side. What did you do in the long term?

Do it.:thumb

You could always text a photo to your BMW dealer, or whoever supplied the tyres.

I went to my local BMW dealer when I got home, they confirmed it was normal, so I just left them on until they needed replacing.

That's what I was hoping you'd say :) I really appreciate your help!! If you're ever in Devon give me a shout...

mine has got a thin line around the front and rear tyre
mine just appeared one day also
anakee 3
bike had 300 mls tops on it when I noticed but my anakee 2's also looked like the pic above with a thin line around them both

Guys... I'm currently in Tralee, ROI and a long way from home in Plymouth, UK and more importantly a long way from the 2 nearest BMW dealers over here.
My issue is that despite my bike only doing some 4,000 miles a fine crack has appeared around the circumference of the stock Anakee rear tyre that my bike arrived with :( The crack is located pretty much dead centre of the tyre as you look at it from behind ie where contact is made with the road when upright.
Now, should I be worried, especially as I'm here for another week with another 750 or so miles to do.... and more importantly the 2 yr warranty is up on the 17th of this month.
Any advice or help would very much be appreciated!!
The bike is a GSA TE...
Blimey, the cutting edge of adventure motorcycling is right here.

I have Annakes on mine with 4200 miles on them. Over weekend a line appeared for first time and looks just like the one on Nuttys

Having been to a few fatal motorcycle RTC's in my time in a previous life and picked up what's left of the riders and pillion passengers I don't fancy being another statistic. Can't print what I'm really thinking of your comment!

Yep, had the same on my Michelin rear, did a search here and found to be common so didn't bother about it.
Rode until worn without any problems.

How weird?! If I get a definitive answer to the issue I'll post it on here... Cheers.

Phew, disaster (hopefully) averted, thanks to a forum member.

Perhaps consider renewing the bike or an extended warranty and not to be as foolish to stray so far from a BMW dealership again!

Sarcasm aside, take pics of the tyre fitted to the bike and the keep the badly cracked tyre to send back to Michelin even if via your local BMW dealer.
They should replace it and if there is a faulty batch they need to know.

They won't replace it, as this is a characteristic of the tyre. That's what I was told by my BMW dealer. :)

Doesn't that depend on wether it's the dark conductive line that most bike tyres now have and is absolutely fine/safe/normal but the op has emphasised that his tyre has a definate crack around the centre.

I also suspect it's the former but as devon has said it's cracked, surely we must assume that's the case (pun intended!)

We're on the same wavelength Devonuk.

So, he has a faulty, badly cracked tyre and posts on the internet for peoples opinions on what he should do....

Unbelievable.

Given the op's experience from a past life, I thought it would be quite obvious what to do.
Oh, I forgot, there is no BMW dealership nearby and your warranty is nearly out.
Well bugger me, it looks like you're stuck.

Here's a pic of my conductive strip (Bridgestone).

Must admit if I was concerned whilst on a trip I wouldn't ask here. I'd go and find a professional and ask their advice.....

Not many shops open at 20.57 at night though.

Isn't the point of the technical section (other than talking politics ) to get advice on bike related issues? :nenau
