Urgent help required please

Well, would you believe it . Got it off the truck at Thurrock services and it started right up . Still not happy running it into Europa . Will phone Neil now and see what he suggests .

Vern had this exact same problem 8 years ago, kept refusing to run once wet but would run fine when dry.... I'm trying to get hold of him to find out what it was.

Kirky, just make sure youre not drunk when you see Steptoe, you know what can happen !

:D

Excellent Paul . Thanks man .

Ok . Spoke to Neil who suggested I run the bike up to temperature and if the problem didn't manifest it was less likely to be hall sensor . Took temp up to 8 bars on rid and it didn't miss a beat . I.ve been spraying electrical components with water from my camelback trying to recreate the problem bike still running fine , however temperature gauge is now running up and down the rid like a fruit machines lights if that makes sense . :nenau:nenau
I think it was when I sprayed the 4 pin plug behind the plastic side panel on the near side . Would this make sense or is it indicative of something else :nenau:nenau

Push on, it only adds to the adventure, what's the worst that could happen? Actually, don't think of the worst, just stay out of the rain.

If Kirky and Steptoe are getting together I need to get a few boys together to come and watch.......Kirky.. repeat after me...'I've driven four hundred fucking miles to come here and.....'. Wowser!

Get yourself a can of WD40 and spray into every connector - £3 well spent, I's suggest.

Unreal . A young lad just turned up in a flatbed and declared he was here to take me home . What , to scotland I enquired ..? He said "I've never recovered a bike before so this should be fun " eh , well you won't be recovering this one kid I'm off on it to Europe on it . Thanks everyone for all the help it really is appreciated . Now , will I make Ieper in time for a beer ? :beerjug::beerjug:

It was the hall sensors on mine. Got home and it started fine and wouldn't do it again until it was way down in the south of France.Took it to a dealer over there, and they couldn't find anything either,so rode home.Hall sensors eventually packed up completley about two weeks after. Just let it dry out and see what happens. I think the rain is a bit of a red herring myself.

Good luck:beerjug:

Get a six pack in from an offy, then no matter where you end up tonight, you'll have a beer ready :thumb2

Is it worth posting up your rough itinerary in case someone on your route has a spare HES you can borrow?

Good luck :clap:clap

Offside. . :blast:blast

Ahh, could be the fuel tank/pump plug .....

If it stops again, lift up the fuel tank cap, turn on the ignition and listen for the fuel pump priming. If not priming check the condition of the plug and the contacts.

have a good holiday :thumb

hope you brought a spare pump controller  mine cacked itself in germany of all places, black al ,s advice is good also , have safe trip it, s a great part to be headin, lookin forward to up dates :thumb2

Quick update . Decided to keep going with the trip . we`re now in saarbrucken in germany after spending the night sleeping in a roadside ditch in belgium :D:D. the bike is progressively getting worse and i have ruled out water ingress as the cause . i now think it may be heat related as its scorchio over here and as soon as the traffic slows in town the bike starts playing up really bad coughing spluttering and farting . as well as this the temperature rid goes mental with the black bars pulsing up and down .when you hit the open road the bike starts to behave normally . this is deffo related as the display starts to play up in time with the poor running . anyone got any ideas ?? I took the bike to a dealer today in Luxembourg and they basically wern't interested and hunted me on my way . I have managed to get a hotel 1 mile from the dealers here in germany and have had to push the heavy bastd about half a mile fully kitted as it finally gave up the ghost .:blast:blast:blast . I`m confident it will start in the morning when cold and let me ride to the dealers but i cant go any further without a fix . I`m following Joybringers dolomites routes ( and bloody good they are to :thumb2) if anyone local could offer some help . Neil the pump seems to prime as normal but i`ll try it with the cap off as suggested . 1 more thing , Its done 20 thousand miles since i last done the fuel filter , could this be related :augie:augie . or what about a coilpack failure ?? also , if you are riding along happily and then go to open the throttle quickly the bike instantly dies and starts jerking and missing which got me to thinking about the fuel filter . think that´s about all the info i can give . p.s. i#ll try and film the temp gague to let you see what it´s doing . anyway , need sleep now as the roadside ditch wasn´t too comfy last night and i plan on making best use of this hotel´s bed tonight . thanks once again . :beerjug::beerjug:

Fookin brilliant thread in so many ways..the instant help to contact Steptoe(by 'eck this t'Interweb int 'alf good), the technical advice, the excellent pisstaking, the stoicism and determination of kirky :bow, the hilarious (laffing with you not at you) vision I have of (a) spraying ya 'lectrics with water to see if you break down again (b) you collapsed in a ditch for the night and (c) pushing the bike 1/2 a mile kitted up ........and still more posts to come.

Superb site thanks. :clap:clap

Hope you get sorted mate. :thumb2
