I am planning to take two European plated bikes (Spanish Reg) to the US and Canada for a six month holiday starting March / April 2010 can anyone out there give me any sensible advise. :)

Yep, what do you need to know and I'll point you in the right direction. I have shipped mine over a few times and I'm shipping 10 over next year for a gentle amble across the US:eek:

Let me know what info you are looking for and I'll be glad to be of assistance:thumb

Great News What i am planning to do is ship the two bike from Barcelona to Miami around March April 2010 and then cross the U.S. and if i can up to Alaska and Canada about a six month trip after that and depending on funds and work i may carry on down to South America if not ship the bikes back to Spain.Do i need to modify the bikes, do i need any special permissions. You say that you are shipping 10 bikes next year from the U.K.?? Regards

Here is the thread with all sorts about the trip: http://www.ukgser.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=342

You don't need to alter the bikes in any way but you will get a 12 months temporary import certificate when your bike lands stateside. The paperwork is a right royal pain the the arse but worth it.

You will only get a 3 month visa waiver if you are not a US citizen but you can get a 6 month vacation visa from your local US Embassy. Make sure you get it because they will not let you in which would real spoil your day. You generally have to prove when you are leaving the US with a booked return flight. You may also have to provide proof that you have enough funds for 6 months. You also have to register on line for an ESTA which is pre clearance. It's worth doing it anyhow.

My e-mail is [email protected] if you need any more info and I'll gladly help with routes and "must see's"
