Hi all i wonder if you all have a prefered site for buying you maps from, what i need is the garmin maps for the usa to suit a nuvi 660 for a trip later this year.
All the best Adam

So what you're looking for is City Navigator NT, North America.

This is the cheapest I can find.....

That's actually a very good price. Only last year when I was looking for the non NT version, the cheapest I could find was c. £150 until a very, very nice man called Bimjo over on Adv Rider sent me a brand new, unopened copy of v8, complete with unlock code, free, gratis and for nowt....:D

Alternatively, sell the Nuvi 660 and buy a 770 complete with Europe and USA maps. Having just bought one, I'm going to test it out in California, Oregon and Washington this summer.

thanks

Hi There had a look at this and yes it seems a very good price i will look into this thanks very much, Adam

Mike, talk me through that one? I though unlock codes were specific to the GPSR rather than the copy of the mapping, or does/did Bimjo work for Garmin :nenau

No, you're quite right, Chas, as far as it goes.

The DVD comes with a serial no. on a yellow slip of paper. You enter into the Garmin unlock wizard along with serial number of your GPS unit and the Garmin algorithm generates the unlock code. At least that's how I remember doing it. It's about a year now since I did it.

Would this version work on the Garmin 2610?:nenau

No, you need the pre NT version of City Navigator for the 2610. They list it on that site for the same price of £69.62 but say that it's currently not available.

Ah, OK. Having just gone through the process of transferring a 2nd user registration but with several failed attempts (previous user had various unlock codes but none of them worked ) I had to rely on the cooperation and good will at the folks at Garmin. The unlock process is somewhat unwieldy but I do understand that it needs to be pretty 'water-tight'.
