Hi guys
ok what am i doing this time .... ive just got a card reader and when i try to load the card with the maps it says "there is a problem communicating with the data card. :nenau
The media is write protected" :nenau

any help her please guys :bow

I think that the favourite would be that the card is write-protected.

I struggled for sometime last week updating SWMBO's i3, only to discover that I hadn't flicked the doo-hickey that write-protects the card!

sorry but the what ... bloody hell im lost :o

I think that this is a TransFlash card.

Have a look down the SIDE of the card for a very small plastic toggle that you can switch between write-protect and write-unprotect.

We've never found a wombat yet (in Herts or in Surrey), but it doesn't stop us looking!!

This is one of the "Wombat Hunt" trail rides; we had the last one in December and Simon (Jarv) ran an alternative ride this month.

The card needs to be re-formated to a FAT format not the Fat32 which they come as standard....

Go to my computer, right click on card reader (might show up as drive f: or e: and select format, a dialog box will open, select fat from drop down menu and quick format.

now you can upload your garmin maps. it took me 29 mins to upload all europe v8 onto a sandisk 2gig card with the card reader on my laptop and then 3 mins for all UK and Irland on the 256mb card that came with my 2610.
