Four weeks ago I put my gsa in for a service before a trip around Europe paying the extra to get the drive shaft oil chaned two weeks ago we set off on our trip down to Portsmouth to get the ferry to Bilbao when we docked at Bilbao guess what a flat battery (no alarm on bike) I got a jump start off the guys but a few days later in the middle of the Alps flat again I bought a new battery from a local dealer and all was ok. Called into Coopers today and was told "we dont check batteries on a service" I asked to see a manager and was left standing fo at least 15 mins still no manager I got a number for BMW uk and phoned them and registered a complaint, in all my life I have never dealt with such a total bunch of ignorant assholes.

Modern batteries tend to fail without warning.

The original battery on my 2004 1200GS is still serviceable, but I changed it for a Moto-batt as it has lasted almost 10 years.

I fear the ignorance is yours..... Sorry the dealer can't do everything for you.

:beerjug:

That's disgracefully, at least a manager could have come over, told you that batteries are not checked on a service,

Mind you, they probably thought that you were some kind of retard, so perhaps they have a small excuse!:D

I'm sorry but I don't agree with you.

It's not really about the battery imho It does little to promote good customer relations if the manager can't be arsed to speak to the guy So well done Coopers your shit service is now global!
The fecking dealers need to wake up and smell the coffee and soon!

The service wasn't shit.

If you want the dealer to wipe yer arse for you, motorcycles are not the place for you.

:nenau

Oh and by the way: "Usual Coopers Sunderland Crap" - If you usually get crap ..why do you go back?

:beerjug:

i agree with the above...no excuse for poor service, but also the dealers must be stretched to the limit dealing with all the claims, issues from the latest gs's rt's etc..ive had 4 new bms in the past 7 yrs and ive had more problems with the latest WC than the rest combined:blast

There is no way anyone could predict a battery is going to fail. Or should they change then at every service? You have no reason to complain and the manager was probably having a quiet laugh I would direct your ignorant assholes comment into a mirror. JJH

This is one of those no win situations for the dealer. If he had suggested changing the battery at the service then there would have been a thread saying how the dealer tried to rip you off by telling you to replace a perfectly good battery.

The manager probly tought it was a wind up like come onn for fuck sake are they also responsible for punctures and blown bulbs? I worked in a bmw car main dealers Murphy & Gunn for a good few years and I've never heard such shite. JJH

To present an alternative
Off the ferry last month my rear wheel had oil on it - discovered on arrival
Called in to Coopers and ( after a short wait- free coffee and biccies) was told I could be alright as leak wasn't too bad. they gave me a free bottle of oil to top up - when I got home booked it in with Skygod who changed seal... well Jonno did...
Sorted - I was happy with it.. and them
(Seal was gone at 12 o'clock if you follow, so not leaking badly)

Hopefully you weren't front of house :blast

Really? Is that your relationship with your dealer then?Do you not expect the manager will ever speak to you if you have a problem?

Why would I want speak to the manager.I deal with Tony at Coopers Tunbridge Wells and he always goes the extra mile to help me out.
