Anybody use them? :nenau I'm off on several trips abroad this year and I can't make my mind up weather to get one or not.

I've just come back from a trip with 2 other bikers - both of which used them. IIRC they said they also stored scanned photos of the passport, driving license, E111 etc on it - which seemed like a good idea. :thumb2

I had the option to use both the Credit Card version as well as the Dogtag version.

Personally found the Dogtags to become a nuisance - however it's a good concept.

The Credit card version however fits perfectly in the see-through pouch on my Richa vest and is very visible....... contains all data and is out-of-the-way!

I've got one

I use the dog tag version and I have to say I think they're a great idea. It's just peace of mind if you are unfortunate to have a big off and can't speak for yourself. If I had a clear chest pocket on my jacket i'd probably go for the credit card version but I don't have any problem with the dog tags. Worth it for he peace of mind.:thumb

I use the dog tag version and keep all the stuff u mentioned above on it plus others, insurance, recovery etc. I dont ride without it now and I dont notice its even there. I think for how much it costs and what you can put onit you cant say no.

The concept of the UTAG I do like and I also store relevant data/copies of passport etc.

The only problem I had was the fact that UTAG must have gotten a shipment of duff dog tag chains. The chrome wore of after two days and the brass layer beneath the chrome gives you a green skin.

I wrote them, and received a nice reply that they are aware of the problem and that they will send me a new chain from the next incoming.

Well that never happened , despite another follow up email of mine.
I know its not a big deal, yet, why make such a promise in the first place :comfort

I use the wrist strap version, but I find the strap slightly too short for my wrists.

However, the public access (non password protected) screen is useful if you are on any medicines that normally require you to carry a warning of their use. Also allergies, etc. If you are in another country riding solo and have an off/rendered unconscious, if the medics see the UTAG, then that would speed up treatment, identification and contact with your own doctor if required.

The language conversion options are quite a useful idea also.

Also, in the password protected section, you can scan in your passport, driving licence, insurances, passwords, etc. I think it has a capacity of 2GB in total.

Worth it for peace of mind I think.

Some emergency services will not use these type of ICE tags to upload your data in case the tag is corrupt.

What is becoming common practice now is to put your medical and next of kin details into your phone under the name ICE.

Emergency services are now checking for the ICE contact on mobile phones.

+1......

Just done a First Aid course, and instructed to look for ICE in phone but instructed `usually` no access to a pc to use UTAG, and A&E won`t use them due to virus and security issues.

Mhh thats a new turn of the story then, too bad that my company Blackberry needs a password to get into/onto the phone. So no good to have ICE listed in the phone file in this case.

That really isn't much use, as although I have ICE listed on my phone, I also have it password protected. The UTAG is not password protected for the first screen.
