Are you bringing it to Spain Sid? 
Not this year. I'll collect it from Jersey end of May and take it back to my place in France. Then I'll leave for Spain on my R1100GS.
Looks like you bagged a bargain
Picked it up at last. First pleasant surprise is that it is a 1993 model, not 1988 so it has the same switchgear as my 1100GS.
Second surprise was how nice it was, with very little corrosion and better condition than I expected. But the biggest surprise was how well it felt to ride. I've owned numerous airheads over the years including many RS, RT and lots of GS of all shapes and sizes. This is without doubt the smoothest and sweetest airhead I have ever ridden. The engine feels like it was built to the standards of a Swiss watch. The gearbox is precise and the handling is good. Even the single front disc seems to work smoothly.
The only negative was the horrid footrests which were great big lumps of rubber. I immediately replaced them which made it possible to change up the gears.
On Sunday, I took part in the Big Ride Out in Jersey to help raise funds for Holidays for Heroes Jersey. Met lots of old biker friends and loved ever minute on this beautiful bike.
Finally arrived home tonight, a very haply bunny.

Read all the service history over breakfast. You can tell it was owned and serviced by an aircraft engineer. He list everything that has ever been done to it, the exact mileage, the make of oil used, exact quantity, part numbers of bits fitted.

I did say that I didn’t think it was a 1988 bike due to the front end that only came in from 1991…..

I finally got it back on the road today.
It's taken a bit longer to finish than I expected due to my health issues over the last year and being told by doctor to take complete rest. Hardly ridden any bike in over a year but just got all clear from doctor so I can ride again and build up strength.
Lots of work done on bike over last 18 months and a few quid spent. Help received from many friends on here with advice, parts and even spannering whilst visiting. Thank you to all who helped, very much appreciated.
I finally turned it over to my local airhead specialists to complete for me. They found several issues that I had not noticed and bike is now 100% perfect. I loved riding it home today. It feels so small and light compared to my R1100GS.
I'll get some pics when it stops raining.

Rode to the bmw dealer to show them what a qualty GS looked like.Bike has had done in last year:
Fork legs repainted in correct yellow colour.
Spoke covers added to cover discoloured spokes.
New fork tubes.
Frame crash bars powder coated.
Speedo changed to km.
Instrument surround repainted.
New screen.
Seat deep cleaned.
Full service with all fluids and filters.
Carbs fully stripped and rebuilt.
Replaced almost everything rubber eg intakes etc.
New cables as originals dry and split.
Exhaust wrapped.
Entire engine cleaned and repainted.
New rear spring.
New Give top case
New quality battery.
New yellow grips
Sat nav mount
New hand guards
New handlebars
New mirrors
All original bits kept so it could be returned to 100% original spec.
Rode it all day today in perfect sunshine and 16°c.
Looks great…..not an overly restored garage queen….I regret losing mine some years ago. Out of interest, in the quest to find a screen that didn’t buffet like hell (never did find one), how does yours work out?
Screen is great. Ordered at NEC Bike Show in 2024. I'm 6 foot 1 and it seems about right.
Definitely not a garage queen as its being used over the winter and I'm loving it.
I parked it by the R12GS demonstrator at the dealer and it got more attention than the new €20k bike.
