I've only had my 1150gs for a month, it was a poor starter and was reluctant to idle when cold unless I held it on the throttle at about 1800rpm, the choke/fast idle didn't do anything. I took the valve covers off, all the valves were less than 50% of what they should be, and there was absolutely no end float, I put it all to the correct 0.15, 0.3 and 0.15 for the end float. Unfortunately I had also raised the tank so when I put it back together and when I started it was running rough and backfiring, that took an hour of head scratching until I realised that I had unseated the rhs throttle cable, a friend brought his mercury vacuum gauge and we balanced the throttles.
It now starts very easily, the fast idle works and it will tick over from cold.
