Valve cover

Hi. Does anyone know if I change a righthand side valve cover will oil come out or has anyone done this before.

You can change both sides if the bike is level, but easier to work on when tilted away. I dont have the centre stand fitted so put a 2" timber through the back axle and supported it on car axles stands with a 2" x 1" wood under one side so the bike could lean whichever way I needed.

It makes virtually no difference if you lean the bike. Just leave it on the centerstand. You will get a couple tablespoons of oil either way.

Don't forget, there's two gaskets.

The inner one (round plug tunnel) might get left in when you pull the cover off.

Place it back on the cover before installing. Try not to dislodge it.

The leaning bike was just to make the job easier as I couldn't be bothered to drag out the bike lift. The oil loss is minimal.
