Hi chaps,

I am in the process of giving the bike a good fettling, and one job I need to do is change the valve cover on the oil filler side, I have got the 4 captive bolts out of the cover, but so far I havent managed to get the oil filler part out, it looks like it may be just a snap fit type jobby, but I want to make sure before I knacker it up, --- anyone got any tips on how to remove it

It's a bit like any oil seal, a press fit.

Just carefully lever it out.

Chris,

the bolts are held in place by rubber grommets shaped like top hats. They fit into the holes in the rocker covers by an interference fit, but squash into place and can be difficult to get out. I used a broad blade screwdriver and eased them out whilst a mate applied pressure to the bolt.

How successful this will be will depend on how old the rocker cover is - one of mine had been replaced a couple of years ago and they came out easily, the other was the 3 yr old original and every one of the rubbers split. Worry not, though, they're available from Motorworks (or your local dealer) as a seperate part if this does happen. Part No is 00 00 0 654 978.
