hi, has anybody got a vango hurricane 300 tent. hoping i can get a few thoughts on peoples experiences with this tent.

i am looking for a 3 man tent for touring, maybe someone could recommend one as i am a bit unsure which one to go for. i am looking to spend about £200, should get something decent for that i hope.
thanks

I've just bought - but haven't used yet, a Coleman Phad x3 which has some good reviews, is lightweight and fits in a pannier.

Search on ADV rider for the review.

The main thing I was looking for was a tent that pitched fly sheet first...

I have just received this Tent;

Its about a Kg lighter than the "beta" version, with permently attached inner, so it pitches as one including the front groundsheet, also has alloy poles rather than fibreglass, it was a doddle to put up (About 10 mins), I’m well pleased with it, They seem to be mostly sold out everywhere at the mo, but after a bit of searching I got it from ,

£100 plus p&p from wild day

We have a vango Hurricane 300

Plus points - handy storage at both ends, the back will take two 1150GSA panniers if needed, good head room and loft storage and robust in extremely high winds plus a very good hydrostatic head, I really doubt the tent will ever let water in.

Down points - it is a PITA to put up on your own and strangely the blue messes your eyes up for a couple of minutes in the morning, I can only assume it filters a particular wave length of light out as everything looks strange when you first get out of the tent on sunny days. :nenau

If I am on my own I use a Coleman 2 man, if the wife comes we take the 300

Poles don't last very long in a Princetown side-wind.... :(

I bought a Vango Orchy 500 from Camping & Leisure World (just round the corner from me) but it was cheaper online (about £40 cheaper).

It's a whopper, fits on the back of my 1150 (with passenger seat removed), and is quite heavy at 14kg.

The beauty of this one is it has a nice large living space with 'windows' - I think you could park the bike in it! The headroom is 2m just about, so no grovelling on your knees, and should it rain, you've got somewhere to sit and look miserable (sewn in groundsheet throughout as well)

they also have pitching videos, in video, ipod and phone quality/size:

One word of caution, when I got the tent it had a big melted hole in the groundsheet - took it back and got an exchange no problem, but I was surprised to see a hole - so were the people at the shop to be fair!

(or there is the Biker: http://www.campingandleisure.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1_90_96&products_id=533 - no experience of this but it looks nice)
