I may be wrong, but I thought a converted van can be driven 70mph legally on a motorway, whereas a motorhome using the van as a base and bodywork applied to the chassis restricts it to 60mph, as does towing a caravan etc. Whether that's something important or not is up to you

Only if it’s UNLADEN weight is more than 3.05 tonnes.
Wrong. And you can use the outside lane.
I shall be demonstrating this Sunday morning blattering my way up to Scotland in my 5 ton tag axle motorhome. :thumb2

Can someone explain to me please why in a sales Ad some people are fixated on the classification of the vehicle and how it identifies itself and having a debate on speed limits. I thought this type of going off on a tangent within a sales Ad was frowned upon, surely if someone is looking for this type of vehicle they will already have done their due diligence and know what it is they are buying?

The different speed limits can make someone’s choice of vehicle quite important. You don’t want to get caught out speeding in the wrong class of vehicle. It’s always best to know in advance what each specific vehicle can and more specifically can’t do.
I can only do 60mph on dual carriageways in mine but 70 on motorways. That may make a big difference to someone else. It doesn’t bother me.
Whoever is interested in buying this superb van needs to know if it comes in at under 3 tons or not and therefore can do 70mph on dual carriageways. Or not.
Timmy’s rules wasn’t specified either.

I’m not that hung up about only being able to do 60 on a dual carriageway, if anything it saves me some fuel and gives me an opportunity to take in my surroundings. 👍

OK......from now on Timmy's rule applies, why not start your own thread after you have informed Vantage motorhomes, Consort motorhomes, I.H motorhomes, Timberland motorhomes, Wildaxe motorhomes etc that they need to change their company names and they don't sell motorhomes.
FYI V5 states "motor caravan" and it is subject to the same speed limits as a car as is the MoT (although it is just a paper exercise to up plate the weight)
Just remembered it has internal Remis cab window blinds also

Timmy’s rules men’s no posting shite on a for sale thread…..

Another argument is it keeps the post at the top of the list……

But statements could lead to negative sales effects…

So who is/was Timmy?

So who is/was Timmy?
No idea - before my time - but aware of the “Rule”

It used to be used as a sign off - as in. “Timmy’s rules please” on ads

Quick bump to the top

It all depends on unladen weight. If memory serves, motorhomes not exceeding 3050 Kg are classed the same as cars but over that weight they are restricted to 50 on national speed limit single carriageways and 60 on NSL dual carriageways. On motorways they can travel at 70 if NSL in force.
