Vario decals fitting

Hi Neil,
I have just ordered a set of those for my 1200LC as i really like the look.
I emailed them and asked if they could print a set with 1200 and not the 1250.
Most accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. Planning to apply them this weekend,
Dan

Great give me an update on the fitting..

As for the black ones, carry on and do it all.

Just had a response from Tota Pappasave, relationship Manager at SCD
He says:

We will have next month our winder sales

Cool. I'm guessing this will before their Valentine Fay sales, Easter sales, etc etc. But they are nice decals, to be sure, and I think worth waiting to see if they do 30%+ off.

I spelt his name wrong, the bold print was copy & paste....so that one is his fault :)

:
Mine have arrived, just need to find a mate to fit them, I’m terrible at stuff like that.

Traffic - trust me, you no worse than me ! Follow the instructions in this thread and you can do it.
Gives a good sense of achievement as well ;):D

Ok,, feedback on the RS decals.
They fit on easily BUT the edge stickers do not work....
They are too short to fit into the front “X” shape and touch the round corners.
I also think the profile of the end pieces is wrong. I am no expert but they wont roll around the corner without creasing.
I have tried plenty of water and even a little heat but no good.

I am keeping the main sticker on for now and see how i go - i can take them off easily later on.

Looking the picture put on earlier comparing the RS ones with the SCD ones, it looks like they should got to the 'X', like there is less original surface showing on the main area
I know the front and rear faces of the metal will not be fully covered
Hopefully Yofi can advise the extent the SCD ones go around the profiles

I'm sorry that it hasn't quite worked out - bloody frustrating and disappointing for sure.

I'm not sure that the positioning is necessarily the reason - the end ones are tricky, and require quite a bit of coaxing and sometimes a bit of repositioning. Btw, as said, never use heat in positioning or sticking, just distorts the material or else dries up the detergent - instead just a mild heat to help seal. (Regards distance, if the heat coming from the gun would be too much for your hands then it's too much for the decals).

The SCDs end decals provide more coverage, like the centre ones.

Well, I still think it adds to them, and - this is very much personal preference, I know and appreciate - I still prefer that look over the 'picture' decals.

I've actually had three sets of decals from SCD over time, one tank set for my 1200, a full body kit for the 1250, and the vario decals. Of these, I observed that the tank and vario decals seemed to be a class above other parts of the full body kit - made out of a different sort of material. I have to say, I was impressed with the way the SCD vario decals went on - very compliant and a long work time. You do have to be a bit patient with them tricky end decals though!

Anyway, have a beer and relax!

I think that looks quite good

Cheers Yofi, i really appreciated all of the help you gave me )

Hi Neil,
Only just got round to doing these, and interestingly the instructions suggested that i not use water on application but put them on dry. So i ignored that and sprayedwaterwith a bit of washing up liquid in it anyway.

The hardest bits are the two end pieces, but if you take your time and keep manipulating the bubbles out, it works quite well.

Finished items, i think they will go very nicely on my 17’ Exclusive TE, flying mars bar.

Whilst I prefer the plain black, these look good and well fitted :thumb

Looks great. So much nicer than plain black. Well on the exclusive anyway.
I’ll give you a shout to come and fit mine... ;)

Ha, Its not that difficult, honestly. Just set aside a couple of hours and take your time.
I did the main cross pieces first, then the end bits, which were the most fiddly. They look like you will never get rid of the bubbles on the edges out, but use your fingers tosmooth them gently and it all comes good.
Then the top and bottom bits were a doddle.
