I am looking into replacing my written off 12 with a 1150gsa. I have found a prospective purchase however it has no panniers. I have a pair of vario boxes which came with the 12 GS. So my question is will they fit? I have tried the. Search functio to no gain (my uselessness I suspect)

Anything's possible, but it'll take some skill as they're very different

Best to sell the Varios and use the cash to buy some panniers suitable to fit a 1150GSA

Why didn't you just purchase another 12GS, would have been simpler:D

That would be simpler however I have apparently seen the light as to the better built 1150

Good call ;)

As JB says, I doubt it's worth trying to make the 12 vario's fit - I'd sell them and buy the correct 1150 versions.

If you intend to keep the 1150 and tour with it fairly regularly, it might be worth investing in some alloy boxes.

I dont think it would be that difficult
if you have access to engineering.
The top box is easy, you will have to attach the side brackets to the frame in a way that the panniers dont clout anything. an aftermarket end can may give more clearance.
Go for it, the Vario is the worlds best luggage system.
