Vario top box on GSA 1250 2020

I’m sure this has been asked before but I can’t find it anywhere.
I’m considering fitting a vario box on my GSA, but can someone please tell me what I have to do? Do I mount the vario mounting plate onto the existing GSA top box rack or is it more complex than that? I’d like to keep the existing pannier racking if possible. Thanks in advance for you advice.

If anyone is wondering why it’s because of all the boxes I’ve had on previous GS’s & GSA’s I found the vario to be the most practical.

You have to remove the gsa top box scaffolding and fit the gs plastic silver job, then you need the vario box mount in there as well to enable the vario to fit

You'll need one of these with a Vario mounting plate fitted in place of the black plastic trim piece.
I assume you're aware that the Vario topbox for the liquid cooled models is different to the previous models. The fixing points are different.

Here is my brothers Vario rack on his GSA. When he wants to put his panniers on his bolts on the pannier racks.

It really is ridiculous that BMW supplies that rack on a GS, but with a black plastic insert that doesn’t allow fitment of the Vario Topcase but requires an ever so slightly different insert. I’d be willing to wager that the vast majority of GS owners that want a topbox fit the Vario. The Alu rack doesn’t require anything else to fit the Alu topbox.

Hey Reggie, exactly what I’m planning to do. Only use panniers for my annual trips down to Malaga and Catalunya, but want the all year round practicality of the vario

I think this a long time ago, and see it was for not LC bikes K25 models only, I hoped for a solution but found none for GSA LC except post number 3

As far as I know they fit 2013 to present although I can't confirm from experience because I haven't had a 1250.
Rack isn't available, sorry.
