version nine and vista

I have recently changed my pc and am know running on the Vista basic... I have loaded city navigator ver 6,ver 8 and ver 9 with no probs... I can download the unlocked maps to my 2610 via my card reader straight to the card and they open ok on the 2610... When I connect the 2610 to the pc via usb the pc shuts down with a critical error ... PC tells me that I have driver problems... I have tried to update my drivers on the Garmin site and everything goes well until the part where I must connect the 2610 to the PC when it shuts down ... Has anybody experienced similar or have any ideas

I tried using the most recent USB drivers update from Garmin with hours of fun on XP Loaded v9 onto a vista machine with no problems, but I haven't tried the latest USB drivers

Thats interesting... the thing is that I have the 2610 up and running with ver 9 as I put the card in and all ok... But I do not have the option to download routes , waypoints etc to the card ,only maps... Anyway thanks for you imput

There is a specific version of Mapsource available from Garmin designed for Vista.

A search here will find it, the link was posted about a month ago

I did not realise that I needed a special vista disc ... I had a look at the garmin home page on this subject and have found some reference to people in my situation ... ie cant download the vista friendly drivers... They advice I phone them and say they can sort it out ... Mny thanks for the help...

Thanks for the link, was having problems with city navigator being denied access to registry, been up all night installing de installing re efing booting and all that, as usual missed the actual soloution.
