Although I've just done 3400 miles around Europe with no issues. When at rest my bike never seems to show more than 12.3 or 4, volts, even after being on an optimate.
I'll like to do some coding but GS911 won't let me unless over 12.5 volts. (2021 1250GSA)
What are other peoples voltages on these bikes (at rest, not running), and if this is "normal" how can I code it ?
Many Thanks

is this the voltage on the bike's display, on the GS911 or measured across the battery?

if the first two, have you compared with the actual battery voltage?

if the battery voltage is also low, does it rise with engine revs?

Sounds like the battery is on its way out if it's not holding charge that well. Mine (standard AGM, standard capacity) easily holds at 12.6v+ for 3-4 weeks this time of year easily.

As Wessie said, check this direct to the battery first with a proper multimeter.

Will do. The voltage shown is on the bikes screen and the GS911.... I'll test the bike with a multi meter ... Thanks
Can you use a GS911 to code whilst the engine is running ? does anyone know ?

I don’t know about engine running, but I’d expect you could with engine off and a charger (or jump battery) connected.

Yes, you can (IIRC). So long as you're not re-setting or changing settings to do with engine components (eg throttle bodies).

You can also code it with a battery charger on the go too.

That voltage is normal when the ignition is on and bike not running. First make sure the led aux lights are off, then connect a good quality intelligent charger. I use a Noco Genius 5, which copes perfectly with the standard system power drain.

Yes. I coded mine with the engine running, to return the option to have either mph or kph on the tft whilst I was away recently.

Had the same last time I used my GS911.
It was to calibrate the suspension after Denz0 had rebuilt my front shock
Had to plug the battery charger in whilst performing the calibration
Battery seems fine overall
I have reprogrammed my EZCAN do that the Denali lights only come on once the engine is running.... Ses to have helped

Thanks everyone. The voltage at the battery was significantly higher with a multi meter than was being shown by the TFT or the GS911, no idea why that would be.
Anyways, I've managed to sort it, even though the TFT showed a lower voltage than last time I tried it, so not sure what's going on there.
Thanks again everyone for your help. Really appreciated

you need to check there is no corrosion on the battery terminals and earth points on the frame and engine

Just run the motor at the same time as the voltage will vary once running and charging. Or put your optimate on it whilst running the diagnostic. Engine running is what I've had to do before - no issues with the battery at all.

I had the exact same issue on my 2019 even with a new AGM battery (And after cleaning all connections etc). After having the hot start issues myself (and some others) have go over to the hybrid battery yuou can now buy

All problems gone including the battery reading low voltage on the GS911

If you're reading the voltage on the TFT with the engine off, as soon as you switch on the ignition there is a considerable pull on the battery for the electronic systems which wil drag down the apparent voltage. Measure directly on the battery using a decent multimeter a day or so after running the bike or charging without turning on the ignition and it'll likely be 12.7-12.8 or so.

Yes you can code when engine running. I find that on my 1250 after about 10 mins using the GS911 with ignition on and engine off, the warning flashes up to say voltage too low for GS911. Started engine and continued coding. Interesting that when running the voltage is 14.2V. Think my battery may be way out, yet at service the BMW dealer tested battery and said it was OK.
Will keep an eye on it and always carry a booster pack.

Thank you for all the replies.... I'll investigate further when I get a few minutes (y)
