Hi, I've just joined the group and its great and very useful.

I'm the proud owner of a F800GS which I had for Christmas. I've now down 2500 miles on the beauty and have an issue about 'vibration'!

Its at its worse when I hit 4500rpm and over and it numbs my throttle hand and feet. My wife and I are going to Rimini to the MotoGP in September on it and I'm abit worried about travelling all that way with a numb throttle hand!

As I ride 7-9 hour national trials competitions I'm use to riding for long periods so my fitness is not an issue. I also own a Motorcross bike so I really am 'bike fit'.

Has anyone got any suggestions?? I need help cause I love my bike apart from this!

Widge, why not get a Wunderlich (I think) cruise-control from Nippy Normans - about £20 or so if memory serves. :rob It slips straight onto the twist grip and allows you to cruise happily at what ever speed with just the weight of the heel of your hand on the unit's tab. All tension is released from your fingers and the numbness in your hand should go away. :thumb

Of course your feet won't be affected and you may want to see if there are alternative cushioned footrests - or different boots maybe.

My 800GS does vibrate through the handlebars and pegs above 5,000. I think this is one of the bikes characteristics but it does not numb my hands any more than my 1100GS did or my Ducati Monster does. What it is superb at is long distance travel at legal speeds with full luggage and pillion (don't believe those boxer GS dinosaurs :blagblah when it comes to pillion work – the 800 is better than the 1100!), and relaxed off-road work at low revs (2nd gear, 2000- 3000 revs and it cruses trails, 1st gear downhill or uphill, 3rd gear for speed) ... just my thoughts but I am a very happy owner.

Hi Stu, welcome to UKGSer. I'm going to pop your thread over to the 800GS section of the forum.

Hope you get the bike sorted soon :thumb2

Tell us more about your national trials competitions, any pics to share with us

Ross: +1 to that.

Widge: I bought a scottoiler cramp buster. Much like the Wunderlich one. I also filled the handle bars with lead shot from diving weights. That alleviated a lot of the vibes. I also try and keep it either above or below that rev range. It's made a big difference. While you're at it get an air hawk for the long ride to Rimini. You wont regret it :) :thumb2

Hi Widge

I used to end up with numb fingers when I first got the bike. To be honest I still get a little 'tingly fingers', but it seems to have lessened off as time goes on (5500miles).

In my case, I dont think there has been any change in the bike, it's just the fact that I'm a lot more relaxed on it now I'm used to it.

But I've never had any problems with my feet at all....have you taken the rubbers off the pegs by any chance?
