I am planning a ride across Canada in June 2013.
I will be leaving the GS at home and using a 1928 Ariel.
Start in Halifax and finish in Vancouver.
The idea is to follow the tracks of J. Graham Oates who was the first person to cross Canada on a vehicle with rubber tires in 1928.
He was a great man who, amongst other things; Fought and was injured in WW1, Manufactured motorcycles, raced at the Isle of Man TT, Six Day Trial multiple medallist etc. etc.
A GS is not really suitable for this trip as the speed will be slow. Something old and British would be perfect.
Oates did it in 21 days but as no roads existed for a large part of the journey I would imagine that should be a reasonable target.
If you are interested please send me a PM.
