Visiting The Lake District

I will be over visiting the Lake District from the 6th to the 9th of May with a bunch of lads from work. None of them are interested in venturing off road at all.
I was wonder if anyone in the area may be doing any green laning on the sunday the 8th early in the morning. I would just like to take a couple of hours away from the tarmac to see bits of the countryside I would otherwise miss.
I will be staying just outside Wigton but don't mind getting up early to travel if there is anything going on.
