Hi
Hope someone can help, never been to wales before and hoping to have a few days away spring bank weekend, can anyone give me some tips on good roads and places to see visit etc in Wales probably Brecon Beacons area, all road on my RT not GS lanes.:)
Thanks

Most of the main A roads around Brecon are great RT roads.

If you want to wander over to the coast you could visit Aberaeron via Llandovery on the A482 then up the coast to Aberystwyth on the A487.

Carry on to Devils Bridge on the A4120 then down to Tregaron on the B4343 through Llanddewi Brefi (apparently there a gay in that village) turn left on the A482 back to Landovery and A40 back to Brecon.

To be honest mid-Wales has no motorway and limited dual carriageway so just look for wiggly bits and you won't go too far wrong.

Most of the B roads are also great roads, my advise is to just get a map and explore, just make it up as you go along.

Another good road is the A483 between Crossgates and Newtown.

Also good roads across the borders around Ludlow, Kidderminster.

A roads are great but be warned on a sunny weekend expect a lot of company.

Hope you have a great visit.:thumb

Places to visit:-

Depends what your into but I'll try and group a few options:

Sightseeing:-

The coast is beautiful you've got from Mumbles in Swansea all the way around to St David's Cathedral and up the West cost to the Llyn Peninsular.

Snowdonia national Park easily done in a day visit from Brecon.
If your into walking your spoilt for choice.

Castles galore just look them up on the web.

City's well if you must I'd recommend Cardiff.

Biker spots:

Abergavenny Bus stop
Llandovery Westend Cafe
Aberystwyth Prom
Mumbles Swansea
Brecon Beacons Storey Arms (1 Mile North) A470
Crossgates

... the Llyn Peninsular.

Pm me if you fancy Llyn (or Snowdonia, really) and would like a guide. I'm retired so not restricted to weekends. :thumb2

Personal favourite of mine is the A4069 from Brynamman to Llangadag on the Western side of the Beacons National Park. Its a stunning road with views to match!

Thanks everyone for the replys all sounds good, all i need now is a B&B or Hotel for a base for 3 nights i normally just find when when i arrive but if anyone as any suggestions that would be great.

Thanks again

If you see lots of bikes on the road with you - be aware it will be well policed with cameras. :augie

Excellent B&B

SWMBO and I stayed here in March. Fantastic room, fist class breakfast. Probably not a good base unless the Gower is as far as you want to go. Lots of good beaches and stuff. The local pub is OK too (especially the whisky!)

not a bad place to start from though.

Regards,

Path.
