Volcano in Iceland!

Do they they do it deliberately?

The correspondents surname covering the Iceland volcano was "Ashdown" :blast

almost as good as the reporter covering the Catholic church scandal... "Roger Boyes"

that's exactly what she's done. plane to paris in the morning and then eurostar 1st class to st. pancras :)

hope the ash doesn't affect Paris as it is Amsterdam and Brussels..:(

Edit: "A number of airports in France are now closed. The French Civil Aviation authority says that Paris' main airport and nearly two dozen others are closing due to volcanic ash." Guardian report.

Get a train to Nice then a train to Paris then the eurostar is a possibility... or kick back and enjoy a few days in Barca

yep,

her flight got cancelled as CDG airport is shut down now. i think she's just going to sit it out in barcelona. unlikely to be home before sunday now. could be worse

Hot air!

I saw a hot air balloon flying south of Edinburgh last night, It's the only thing I saw flying.........!

I'm booked for a fortnights 'cycle touring' in Iceland 26th may to 7th june and I was going to stay at the Seljallands campsite which is right next to the main flood area. The ringroad there is completely flooded.

FP.

I am on the ferry from Dk to Iceland just after you return, hope it's all calmed down a bit by then.

This erruption could last a couple of years..................like it did in the 1820's

No planes back then..........................:augie

Amazing how often 'Mother Nature' puts a spanner in our 'mere human works'

some forecasters are saying 6 months disruption to flights...:(

hope you are checking the train timetables:thumb2

Edit:"Eurostar reports its 48 services between London and Paris and Brussels on Friday are sold out. "We are carrying more than 38,000 people today and all our trains are full," a spokeswoman said."

methinks it might be time to book a car hire and head home...

Heathrow is very quiet , and coming into work .. so are the 'local' roads other than RTA on A30 involving Met Astra and lots of high viz met vehicles (area, traffic and dog wagons, flying aorund, so something is up :augie).

Have a Policeman on a RT coming over to see me, which shall be nice :comfort

Nothing north out of Geneva today. BA have allowed me to change flights without charge so I remain here this weekend. The local dealer is running a roadshow for the new s1000r so there is part of the weekend gone. Now I wonder if there is any snow left...?

monday. gatwick via dusseldorf.

i suggested train to bilbao/santander. dependant on sparse ferry timetables though.

when she gets back, she's supposed to be off to istanbul straight away. could go direct.

I'm supposed to be at the London Book Fair starting on Monday.....I might have to ride from here if the flight's cancelled............please cancel the flight.

A friend text me an hour ago. She was on a flight out of Abu Dhabi and got stranded in Frankfurt. Her companies picking up the tab for a taxi to the French ferry ports but the ferries seem pretty booked up anyway: Dunkirk to Dover at midnight seems to be her only option at the moment.
