It's straight forward, but read up on it first, don't do the usual bloke thing of attemping it first, then reading the instructions after it's all gone tits-up

So Vines are saying that the service interval is 2 years coz you have steel lines on your servos?
Funny, so have I. Told me it was yearly for all servo bikes and charged £90 to do it.

Same as mine then. Like I said, Vines...
Most dealers seem to have good/bad points so far they have been good to me my other nearest dealer is Cooper Reading I have never been impressed when I've been in there 
£210 is the most I've ever spent on any service car or bike usually when I've been quoted that sort of money I do it myself. But that's usually after at least 2-3 years of ownership. As the GS is under warrenty and it needed the recalls done I paid my money. In the future I might have to have a rethink

Speak to Steptoe about Coopers - seem to recall he told me about them farming out their service work to a mate of his due to quality issues? May be mistaken but I think that was right. Are they still doing bike servicing - I had an idea they were packing it in as the new gaffer didn't want the work.
Ditto - think that may be why they get away with the charges - get it while they can, then move on to the next new bike. Steptoe is only 20 mins from Vines on a good day - problem solved. Prior to BM ownership I used several other independents in the guildford area - all far better than Vines for price, quality and service, so there's plenty of choice.
Anyway, the regular stuff on the BM is so simple, it's generally quicker to get the tools out than to take it somewhere.

SERVICING& WARRANTY
So whats the worse can happen if I service my own bike bearing in mind it's done over 20'000 miles and been fully serviced up till now, if it's only the occasional seal brake bleed it would be money down the drain if i let an expensive dealer do the servicing in order to keep my warranty?

Yesterday I rode down Vines to have my HP2 supermotard wheels fitted to find I'd arrived a week earlier than I'd booked, what a plonker. Darren surpassed himself by still fitting me in, lending me their own supermotard shod HP2 for free and doing the job. They continue to get my vote. Anton also chipped in with free touch paint for the HP2. Top marks to Vines!

Excellent. Word must be getting round that they are utterly shite, and they're short of work so trying some customer service for a change.
Darren & Spencer on the service desk are great - they really try to provide top service. And yes, Spencer may not know everything technical about bikes, but is quite happy to pop back to the workshop and present their top mechanic for you to talk to.

SPC one way - Vines the other. If you want to just get a service - you could try Mark at A&H who is in Ash - a top mechanic - but no BMW gizmo's.

Try FCL in Cranleigh. Do a lot of race and off-road stuff. Proper shop type thing.
