Bought my new gsa with the enduro package on saturday only to be told it will be mid april when I can take delivery,is a 2 month wait the norm?

Just be quite sure that the price will not go up; You will doubtless be aware that at present, owing to the exchange rate, a GSA in the UK is about £3000 cheaper than in France.- it will not be too long before small dealers will be flocking to England and buying them for resale here; you won't get a good secondhand GSA here for less than about 14.000euros - (which at the moment is about £12,750) and that applies almost across Europe. Can it last? Well, it did when it was the other way round; remember the days of 'grey imports' - and now the CE law is much stronger and free trade is encouraged;

the hold up may be becouse of the start of sbk and them needing to make more s1000rr for xuas to bend 
I believe that the enduro package requires a different gearbox (rather than just bolt-on tat)? It's probably not one of the more usual options so will have to be programmed into production in Germany

I'm also in the same position and I understand it to be that there is little to no production of GSA's in the first quarter, hence the wait.
If you're not fussy they're a lot of stock bike in crates waiting to be purchased...

The system in france
When you order a bike here and specify the various packs you want they get straight on to BMW France and find out what is available quickly - I was told there was a 2months wait - but if I would 'accept' a chromed silencer (for an Extra €100) I could have it in about three weeks; Yes, I paid up and had it - (why they offer a chrome plated stainless steel silencer I don't know!!! My previous 'basic' S/S model looked as good as new after 4 years.)

Ok so I'm not just being spun a line!,the enduro package does have a lower ratio first gear so it will be a factory special build according to the dealer,worth having just for pub points!!!,want it now though.....

Hi brian, its too late for that the've taken my money so if the want more they will have to get it off the missus!they would be safer taking a bone from choppsie my dog!!

I'm not sure that the delay is down to the enduro box. I'm sure most GSA's are ordered with this option.

Gear ratios
The original 'basic' 1200GS had a primary drive ratio of 1 : 1.823 The 2008 model has a lower primary drive ratio 1 : 1.737 It also has lower gear ratios (it is a new box.) the final drive ratio is now 2.91:1 rather than the original 2.82 ; I find that the new model is ,as one would expect, more tractable at low speeds and will now go up my drive, twisting and climbing in 1st gear with the clutch engaged. Is it being suggested that they have brought out a lower ratio for the enduro model GSA?

Not certain if it's clear by the thread but the Enduro pack option includes a lower ratio first gear than a gsa without it.
Mine doesn't have it and I was told there's little difference between them in real terms anyway. I've not had an opportunity to try one so if anyone has tried it next to the standard bike what did they think? All the off-road work I've done doesn't make me think it would add considerable value?
Thoughts appreciated..

I've ordered a new GSA and was told that the lower 1st gear option wouldn't be noticed except in really really really serious off-road scenarios -------
so I didn't order it.
Though I think I was more bothered that it might want to wheelie away from every set of traffic lights, I was told it is not THAT low.
The "enduro" option is a lower 1st gear AND knobbly tyres.
I ordered mine first week of Feb - and it's expected for March.

Just to encourage you to spend your money note that the basic price here is 14750 euros - that is to say over £13,000; You in the UK can buy your bike for £10105 , run it around for a year or so and then bring it down here and sell it at a profit - assuming you can find anybody left in France who has any money left in their pockets by then!
(However I did a similar trick in reverse with new cars here (all ordered with RHD) some five years ago - not for profit but for family and friends.)

I thought a price rise was on the cards and was told 'not in 2009' by battersea motorrad. They say they have it hedged and don't do mid year price changes. I shall be mightly p***ed off if they are wrong.
