Wankpanzer Oder Uberwankpanzer ?

I'm curious, and I'm also a Wanker so why not indulge me?

If you could afford to buy your bike outright, what fiscal benefit have you experienced by using PCP instead ??
The way I see it, and this is not having a dig at anyone, is having all that money tied up in a bike is a bit pointless. Even if I had the money to buy a new bike, which I totally don't have, I would consider PCP. The bike is going to cost a certain amount as it loses value over time. Just making up numbers: say the bike is £28,000 and loses £8,000 over 3 years, why put the £28,000 into it when you could just spend the £8,000 and use the other £20,000 for something else. Probably got this very wrong but that's the only bonus of PCP I can see. I will continue to look at new bikes to see what I will be riding in 10 years time!!! Hopefully these new GS's will last that long.

I don’t get the maths there?

If the bike costs £28k and loses £8k, you are still going to pay more than that £8k over the three years ownership due to the interest. The initial down payment alone will be a few grand.

I would pay £10k cash plus the keys to my bike, and ride away on a two or three year old used trade-in, immediately owning it lock stock and barrel with full legal title. My 1250GSA was £14,295 so I did exactly that. Because I’ve spent my entire working life avoiding putting monthly interest payments into salesmen’s pockets, I could comfortably afford to.

I’m a bit surprised.
Have you looked at the cost of PCP deals ?
There’s an upfront lump sum even before you start paying the rental cost. Then it’s a gamble that you’ll not get ‘ stiffed’ by the dealer when you return it due to excess mileage, damage etc.
Even if you only put 2 k in to the deal up front, that leaves 6 k to pay over 3 years. That’s about £170 a month.
Can you get a new GS/GSA for figures like this ?

Just looked at the numbers for a brand new 1250 compared to a 3 year old one on autotrader and looks like PCP will cost about £900 more than buying outright with 5,000 miles a year. I have no idea really, people can spend their money however they like.

My view is that all new vehicles are overly complicated. I have been driving a new ford transit at work for 5 months and 4,000 miles and the steering has broken and it is totally undriveable. I think most of the stuff being sold today will be in the scrapyard before they reach 10 years old. Any tech outside of making the engine work is just more crap to go wrong. That transit has "lane assist" which is a tad scary when it picks up joins in the road and steers you toward the crash barrier on the motorway.

Ride a horse then. (y)

But that’s an outgoing model and is likely to be at a highly discounted price.
5’000 miles a year isn’t many, easy to blow through that. I can do 4k just on a tour.
Was it a GS ora GSA ?

Was a TE like for like. I have no idea really. Everyone can buy what they like. Just saying PCP might work for some, all comes down to what you are going to do with the bike.

I used to work for a large energy company and their strategy regarding vans was why would you want to own something that depreciates in value so leasing was the way to go for them, just saying.
Just to add I paid £22,500 cash for a new 1300 back in March but have used pcp to obtain bike and cars in the past for various reasons that suited me at the time.
