£22k or £27k ?
£22k or £27k ?
Sounds a lot £20k+ but a pint of beer in 2003 was £2.26 now it's £4.76. So a lot of it is just inflation plus the bikes are a lot more complicated (for good or bad).Standard GSA TE is just over 20 grand still a lot but when you spec up jeez !! I think the 1150 GSA was just under £10 grand in 2003 when I bought mine ................. That was quite a lot then
My perception is that people have lost the value tag of things. A bike’s value is based on what people can afford on a monthly basis now, not the overall cost. Easy for finance co’s to keep nudging monthly costs up because it’s tens of pounds not thousands.Sounds a lot £20k+ but a pint of beer in 2003 was £2.26 now it's £4.76. I feel I get out of touch with prices as I get older, Think.my parents were the same, it happens as we drop out of spiralling wage increases into retirement.
Paid £12k for a Ducati 916 in1995, it's all relative. If you want the latest GS you pay the money, if not, buy a 3 year old 1250 for half the price.
That’s £21464 today.Standard GSA TE is just over 20 grand still a lot but when you spec up jeez !! I think the 1150 GSA was just under £10 grand in 2003 when I bought mine ................. That was quite a lot then

Yet they use an old TFT screen and don’t even fit backlit switchgear .It probably had ABS as standard too and a trip computer as an option
There is so much more technology in a GS these days for a similar price at up to date rates,
Lean sensitive ABS, traction control, TPMS, cruise control, semi active suspension with configurable damping and auto preload etc, even variable spring rate on the 1300s which is superb, TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity for navigation, music, phone, electric screens etc.etc.
More than my new bike is costing . I’m pretty sure it’ll be worth more than £0 in 10 months.I’ve just watched a video where the owner of a new 24 plate 1300GS (now 10 months old with 9k Miles) was offered £8000 less than he bought it for by his local dealer.
Yes folks £8000 depreciation in 10 months.
Got a link mister?I’ve just watched a video where the owner of a new 24 plate 1300GS (now 10 months old with 9k Miles) was offered £8000 less than he bought it for by his local dealer.

Here you go. Start from 14:20 for the numbers.Got a link mister?
That’s a fair point, I took the 5 year warranty on mine, can’t imagine what a new suspension unit would costNobody will keep a 1300GS out of warranty as they probably couldn’t afford to fix it when all that tech plays up
I’m a cash buyer but I get what you meanI’m old but I really don’t like the direction many bike manufacturers have gone in and dealers have pushed PCPs.
The fact my new car due soon has cost less than a new GS says it all to me .

The Dacia is just a question of choice though, as is your Voge, but then your goldwing is nearly 30,000 euros new
You pays your money as they say…..
"Old" TFT is still the best on a bike I've seen so no need to change it.Yet they use an old TFT screen and don’t even fit backlit switchgear .
Back-lit switches not a biggy for me I can't remember the last time I rode in the dark."Old" TFT is still the best on a bike I've seen so no need to change it.
It,s clear and big enough to read most things on it.
Backlit switchgear totally agree , I've no idea why they haven't bothered to update those. Impossible to see where the correct button to press in the dark is without fumbling around. I just make do with only feeling for the dip switch. That's another one they could do with adding -- auto dipping headlight or better still matrix adaptive headlight.
