Hi all. As per subject line. 😊
After two years without my '13 GS, I bought a '15, and I'm looking for a shift assistant pro (BMW part # 8 536 884) for it that can be shipped to South Africa.

Please, no silly prices. 🙏🏼 I'm finding ones here in SA that sellers seem to think are worth more than their weight in gold.

Not sure many will have that lying on a shelf in the garage.

One on eBay UK for sale :

To the OP , You are aware that's its not a plug and play Item?

There is a coding to be carried out also, have you taken that into consideration ?

Indeed - I also know that BMW gatekeep that aspect of it. Another reason why price is a consideration.

A quick ping on the web shows prices ranging from

$600 odd new BMW
£150 Used - Nil stock (Motorworks)
£150-£250+ Ebay

Coding add 1 hr @ £150* could be higher or lower

The risk with a used part is ... is it fubarred you wont know until you code it, so you could pay £400 to find you bought a Pig in a poke !

I keep deliberating about this for my '14 LC.

Is it only BMW themselves that can code it in?

Have you had any experience with the QS? If not I suggest you seek out someone who has one fitted and have a go. Personally I don't think they are worth a 1 penny, however on the 1300 are a massive improvement.

I’ve located the plug on my 2014.

Sheesh it’s well hidden. How best to tease it out?

lol.

No. Anyone with INSTA+/E-Sys and iirc Hex GS-911
At the moment, GS-911 can't do it. BUT if Hex get enough requests for the function to be developed, they'll likely do it.
Send a mail to [email protected]. I have. :trippy

I've felt them on a 1250 GSA and a '16 S1000RR. Both felt fine to me.

The thought's occurred to me, but I'll worry about it if I have a unit in hand. :)
There's a chance I could be wrong, but removing the left panel under the seat wouldn't do any good - the only thing you can remove there to make access easier is the starter relay.
Removing the right panel under the seat (i.e. battery & diagnostic plug) might be better. Once the battery tray is out, you'd have easy access.

It’s certainly shit on the F900GS I’m currently renting . Shame , as otherwise the bike is great .

There marmite on the 1200lc

1st to 2nd invariably would be a jolt change, it was never smooth whatever you did

2nd to 3rd. Was marginally better
. Then 3-4 4-5 5-6 were fine, just keep the engine under load and wheeee

Dropping down through the box 65432 superb

The drop into first could be hit and miss depending on your speed,

The only downside, you don't get that acceleration surge as your going up the box. As the change up in the higher gears is too smooth

Should never use a quick shifter 1-2

The ignition kill duration is too short for a long throw 1-N-2, from second up and down my 1250 is smooth as silk and pops on upshift with the remus 8 fitted.

Translogic do a plug n play kit for the Gs i wrote the instructions for them, i fitted loads to 2013 bikes and Twincams before bmw even thought about quickshifters, the healtech kits can be temperamental.

I strongly recommended if you can try a 1200LC, it didn't matter how many software updates they had it was shit in comparison to any Jap bike. Works best on 1000R/RR and on the new R1300. Never tried on the F900, but sounds like that is a fubar. I toyed with the idea on my 1250RS, but even for £350 didn't make sense.

Fyi.

Like said. It needs coding in. And that coding needs an unlock key which is purchased from a dealer. Which is a few hundred quid on top of the actual equipment.
