For Sale WANTED: Shift assistant Pro for GS LC.

Fyi.

Like said. It needs coding in. And that coding needs an unlock key which is purchased from a dealer. Which is a few hundred quid on top of the actual equipment.
But it doesn't have to be a dealer?

I might ask Grahams in Bradford where I got it serviced if they can do it.

I keep deliberating about this for my '14 LC.

Is it only BMW themselves that can code it in?
As part of a sweetener because my 2014 r1200gsa lc was such a turd I got gsap fitted for free when it was 9 months old , in the next 2 years it was replaced twice and had at least 5 ecu updates .
If your bike has an early clunky box then gsap makes it much much worse

Ugh not good. Well I'll give it a try. Got a 2020 1250 gear leaver and sensor coming from eBay for £120.

I'll fit it then get it coded in. Watched an old Missenden Flyer vid from a decade ago and he seemed fairly happy with it.

But I'm mechanically sensitive and of course have had QS enabled bikes before so am familiar with how to use / how a gearbox works.

Not expecting it to be like a rifle bolt.

Arrived.

I really need to stop coming on here. Costs money.

If they have BMW ISTA NEXT software they can. Which is very unlikely if they're not a dealer or a registered independent like me.

The bike will need a full re-coding to add a quick shifter. It's a retrofit.

As far as BMW is concerned, you're upgrading the bike to a version which was more expensive when new. And they don't just let you do that with second hand parts. The software is as much the product as the mechanical parts.

So you will also need to purchase a code through a main dealer which is applied to the vin. Only when that is done can the retrofit software be installed.

Even if you try to add it at a dealer without buying the code, the software will just say no and not allow you to code it in.

So you can do it ?

How much mister?

Programming is not something I offer mobile. As it can take hours. And you're literally doing nothing In that time apart for clicking a few boxes.

I hate to say it, but your local dealer will be cheaper as they will (or should) just park it up in a corner and wait for it to do it's thing.

The part number for the activation code is

13618545879

I just checked. It's less than £100 now.

I think the bike needs to be 2015 or newer too.

OK. Mine is a '64 and I have found the plug behind the gearbox.

Looks like I need the bolt and washer etc.

Part no. 23 41 8 556 234

Best place to buy online?

Popped into Vertu Shipley today to order the funny washer and bolt I need for the shift assist.

Service guy reckons about half hour / £70 to program.
