Anyone got a shooting stick, the type that fold into a seat, and/or a cleft stick for walking and hanging stuff on on the peg?

Yup, got two. A traditional one - just a stick with leather(ette?) sling that folds open. And a green enamel paint tripod job with a small triangle seat and very low back rest when it’s open. Interested? I’ll take some photos tomorrow if you are.

Are you buying? They were my dads and he died in 1998 so old but unused since then so in good Nick once I’ve wiped them down. Price, not a clue. Make an offer.

I’m buying. Could you post a couple of pics please? More the one with the seat that opens out, sling type, but if you could post pics of both.

A thumb stick should be approximately level with your breast bone; have a measure and I’ll see if I’ve anything suitable 😉

1m 40cm, 55" in old money
It wasn't until I looked at my 'stock' that I realised how tall that is 😂 I do however have one stick that could be cut to 55". It is peeled and sealed hazel with an antler fork and copper dressing. If you want to poke it in the ground I have a brass tapered tip that would suit, but these aren't cheap. Have a look at the photos and let me know.

Ooh, sorry forgot about this til just now. Pics with flash I’m afraid. I want to keep the nice green tripod one as it’s just too nice and unusual to sell.

I don’t know the brand of this stick. Bird stick or something I think. Made in Britain sticker.

I have only given it a quick wipe down after it’s been hanging in the garage for 25 years or more. I guess the shaft and mechanism is stainless as it’s unmarked. The foot and spike is alloy of some sort. The seat is leatherette and has a bit of cracking where it’s been creased but I’ve sat my 15stone on it tonight and it’s fine. The leg extends by about 5.5inches in increments of just under 2inches.

On low…

The seat. It tighten up a bit when you sit as the mechanism still has about 1/2” before fully open

Closed up with hanging tab for a belt or something

Looks like what I’m after. Can you give me
an idea of price please, either up here or pm?

Errr, umm, I dunno…. Postage…packing it… umm errr, no idea really. If you hadn’t posted this thread I’d have happily kept it, umm £25? no idea really. Yup, £25.

And that looks like what I want too, assuming it sound and stitching and/or stick itself won’t collapse as soon as I park my arse on it. Have you done a sit-test?

a quick look on eBay suggest they go for £15-£25, plus post, for a decent one.

Yes, as I sad, done a sit test tonight. Seat is ok apart from the creases where it’s been folded. It’s a nice thing and I’m happy to keep it so keep looking on eBay for yours. I guess my time will come and I’ll start using it.

Misunderstanding, maybe, I just looked to get an idea of price, which in general is about the same as your estimate. I’d prefer to buy from here so I’m happy with the £25, I think you said.

Ok then, I’ve been out (beating) all day, and am out with other stuff all day tomorrow. I’ll sort it on Monday. Ping me a message with your details which will prompt me to give you my pp address.
