Wanted: Xchallenge sump guard

Just get the TT big one............ the BMW OE one is crap anyway, so don't waste your money

Ive got an OE one wich i would happily swap for a TT one if there are any takers :thumb

Anything better

From the looks of it the TT one wraps more of the frame, but still be happier with a metal one as I want to swap out the Xc s plastic version, how much is the OE one I wonder?
Have to learn to weld ally or could use the plastic as a cast.

How come you have a plastic guard as the bike comes standard with a aluminium guard

'cause he's got an Xcountry?

Guess powroll will speak for himself, but that's the reason I had the same question.

Given JohnnyBoxer's reply (and thanks for the info) maybe I'll just bite the bullet and go for the TT version. £173 is a lot, but rather less than a new engine ...

That's what I was quoted by Motorworks for the OE version

Don't waste your money on the BMW alloy one .................it's very flimsy

I've even managed to break a mounting lug off the TT one:eek: Had to get it alloy welded and braced:bounce1

That 650 motor is a heavy old lump and comparatively 'low slung'

Some pics of the TT one fitted

PS - look closely at the left peg - you need one of those TT Hardparts too - stops the frame from breaking off:eek

This pic. shows how the Xchallange sump guard protects the motor :tears

Bonus point......

I have an Xcountry, first BM and I reckon its the business.

I suppose if you do use the guard to roll over logs and rock then a proper one is a must, the plastic ones probably cheaper to replace if it cracks so long as it doesnt split the case.
If you were doing big miles the TT one looks up to it.
Dreaming of big miles!

Xc guard

Paul,
Do you want to sell the OE plate, looks like it matches up on my X ?
How easy was the TT fit, on/off or fiddly other bits.

Yikes!! :yikes But thanks kalli for the pic! After seeing this scary pic I've ordered the Touratech one ... at huge expense I know, but for the greater peace of mind it'll give me
