I have contacted several possible hotels and have been scouring some maps / websites. It's just a matter now of waiting for some replies, then slotting all the bits together. It will keep me out of mischief, i guess.

PS Many blokes would be happy to see their significant other vanish away over the horizon, preferably taking the mother-in-law with them. A sentiment shared by many women I know, too.

I am sure most would be (secretly) pleased to see them come back too, when the sock drawer is mysteriously empty..... or there's a giant spider lurking beneath the settee to be dealt with.
