Warning - Stolen Clocks (Again)

No bolts - 3 rubber mountings and circlips
I was thinking bolts for the headlights, and then turn the upper circlip down and put a drop of araldite to keep it there.

For the record, clocks + lights : £2,000.
On the Cymarc - if it just held by bolts - is it actually going to stop anyone or just make the bill £2,040. ?

Well it certainly makes it harder than pulling a circlip off and legging it.
Everything on your bike is "just held on by bolts"...
Especially the nut connecting the handlebars to the seat!
Those are Hexhead clocks though, this is an LC "Issue" Revel in the joy that Mr BMW provided you with 3 circlips to secure your clocks
GS-ER UK Friendly Sniper required sit in an upstairs window with silenced weapon overlooking an LC Bait-bike in London.....
This could be just one thief making his living from nicking bike clocks, the Triumph Explorers owners are having the same issues, no doubt there will be an ebay connection somewhere...
Also, this theft must have been picked up and recorded on at least one security camera somewhere in the area.

So you had them stolen once then come on here moaning a 2nd set gone you should've learnt the 1st time
I think its bad practice BMW sell stuff to bemused public knowing there are theft issues but not telling,then again the car world is fraught with this practice
Every time I buy a new vehicle I do my homework to see what if any issues there are some I steer well clear of !

An overview of highlights of the new LC model BMW R 1200 GS.
BMW Completely new air/liquid-cooled 1170cc Boxer-twin, with an output of 125 bhp (92 kW) at 7,700 rpm and a maximum torque of 125 Nm at 6,500 rpm.
What they missed out: Some suffer from cam chain snapping thus fucks engine,water leaks rife,lots of bad gearboxes & clutches !
BMW New instrument cluster with on-board computer as standard. PRO on-board computer (with extended off-road riding functionality) available as factory fit option.
What they missed out: Theft of clocks is easy but we needed to save money making them so we charge £1-2000 for new ones not inc labour

Maybe .......it's BMW sending a Ned / Scally / Chav out there on a mission to pinch clocks to help drive up revenue

Im happy with my hexhead & would buy a twin cam version but will look for orange or trumpets when buying LC machines ........
I came from a Trumpet (1200 Explorer) to my fantastic GS-LC.
IMHO the GS-LC is the better bike in virtually every respect, most of my Explorer buddies have also moved across to the GS-LC too!

It was intended as a warning to other owners in the London area. I thought it a polite and friendly thing to do. It has happened to me and I wouldn't want it to happen to others.

not having looked, away from bike for a while, but if you fit the cymarc guard which takes care of the clocks, does this also protect the headlight? i.e. do you need to remove the clocks first to remove the headlight?

I was been harsh to try & get you to think about the situation,you've had one set gone already surely you must've realised they come off easily before your 2nd misfortune ? then try & think about security to stop it happening again,Id complain to BMW that they must know it's an issue yet done sweet FA about it.
If you ride a £14K plus bike then leave it in London unattended in this day with the scumbags that are around,that's up to you Id buy a commuter for that job & keep it for best.
Even old BMWs as are many other bikes stolen cos parts are worth quite a few £ss I don't leave mine for long anywhere.

If someone wants your clock - they will have it. What Cymarc brace does is slowing them down, unless they come prepared and have metal cutting scissors, which are likely to damage clocks.
If you check my recent posts, I did install anit theft brace and dismantled my bike to check how easy it is to take them away, and now I know it takes just about 10-15 seconds if circlip is positioned upright. There is only 1 circlip securing clocks to bike, as other 2 lugs are just sliding into the rubber grommet.
You can either change circlip to non standard one and/or buy Cymarc's brace.
As for headlights - make sure you change original bolts to non standard ones. ideally think about somethig to obscure access from the side. There are only 2 of them and plastic lugs which are holding LED to the bike. It is possible that they can take 2 bolts and them snap lugs to quickly remove headlight from its position. When I was doing it I dismantled pretty much all plastic bits in the front to get to LED as I didn't want to snap them, but now I know that it can be done without beak and side panels and tank cover removed.
