Just thought I would see if anyone can better my waiting time for back ordered parts

Just before my bike ( GSA ) was 2 years old ( August 2015 ) .. It went in for a service and the dealer said your wheels are corroding .. Spokes to the rims/hubs...

Dealer put claim in and was accepted... 2 new wheels

One wheel arrived after about a month ... I'm still waiting for the other .. 12 MONTHS !!!

Yesterday dealer suggested I speak to customer services... And even they can't believe I've been so patient and they are investigating

It would appear that the wheels are no longer available !!!! Manufacturer problem

Anyone had or having same problem ??

ho ho ho , sounds like Moto-Guzzi warranty system :blast , i waited nearly a whole year for engine recall parts .

eventually threatened to take bike to factory and burn it in the car park outside , had bit 4 weeks later !

ps , i feel your pain.

Blimmin'eck that's bonkers! So if they can't uphold a warranty claim do you get a shiny new bike :D I never had parts issues like that.

If it's just the spokes surely they could respoke the wheel, if the BMW techs can do that?

You should get a KTM, my 10yr old is fine :P Just don't ask about oil leaks!

BM Techs simply swap parts**. Lacing a wire cross spoke will be well outside their range.

** Sorry guys but at your hourly rates, relacing a GS wheel would cost more than a set of carbon wheels.

And the farce continues ..

So after me calling customer services last Thursday ...and them being shocked and surprised at my patience ... They asked for 48 hours to investigate .. I'm still waiting for a call back

Might be another 12 months while they look into it!

Bit worrying GSA wheels aren't available, if the bike is rear ended and wheel damaged is it now a write off?!?

Does the German BMW factory still shut down for the whole of august :D.

They rang ...

But still not resolved...

They have a back wheel :thumb2

But there are no fronts available :(

So plan B ... They are trying to find all the individual parts to allow the dealer to make me a wheel ( or dealer will sub it out )

If they can't do that ... Plan C .... Possibly cash settlement !!!

How bad is this !!! Just make sure you don't Need a new wheel .. There aren't any !!!

The story continues

I've had an "off the record " conversation

The manufacturer who makes the wheels / parts ... Has gone bump

It appears no one wants to start manufacturing wheels/ parts for an old model !!

And the saga continues

So ... No front wheels or rims available ... And won't be ..!! Yes that's what customer services have told me

There suggestion ... You find a second hand wheel and BMW will pay for it !!!

I said no ... Very politely ...

Now going down the "goodwill" route towards a new bike sometime in the future

Let's see how much they offer to keep me with the Brand !!!

Where's Engineer when you need him ? He'd tell you that you must be mistaken and BMW spokes don't corrode and their back up is fabulous.

Hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction. :thumb2

Wheel supplier gone broke. Sounds like a business opportunity for Alf Hagon. Hang on - Why have they gone broke?

Alloys are going up in price so folks can put their wires into storage before they warp or corrode away.

Alternatively get some of these

Thats what i have done Bendy. I have a lovely set of black wires all wrapped up nice n cosy in my shed.........oh and they have zero corrosion :augie :D

I'm running my wires with TKC-70s but will probably try more road oriented tyres next time. They'll be on the alloys. I've been happy with the -70 but they look wrong on alloys and TBH I've not really done the miles of gravel lane riding that I expected to do.

Do what I did when I had my GSA TC, get a set of GS alloys and paint them black
