Hi Guys,

I have a warranty issue on my f800gs, its a corrosion issue on the clutch cover.

This problem was brought to my attention in late march time when I did an intrim oil service on the bike. I noticed the enamel around the filler cap had stated to corrode and flake.
I rang the dealer and he said no problem with a replacement clutch cover under warranty, bring it in when you can for an inspection.

With holiday and work commitments ive put taking it in off until this morning (my own fault), to find out that the bike is now 7 days out of warranty and the work cannot be done under dealer warranty and will have to be referred to BMW for a 'good will' judgement.

Anybody else had a problem like this??
And what was the outcome??

The corrosion didn't just happen in the last 7 days did it.....

Thanks

Why did you leave it till after warranty had expired. You will more than lightly get one bmw are quite good compared to others but you might need good will for more important things. JJH

My clutch cover and sump have just been replaced on a warranty claim as have a fair few others so reckon you should be OK - like you say, it's not like the corrosion happened over-night. Best of luck anyway.

Bloody things have the worst finish I've seen on any bike.

Blistering engine cases, rusty spoke nuts (correction - all the bolts and nuts are rusty), coating falling off the front wheel hub and frame rusting everywhere. I'm not too fussy about cleaning it and, granted, I do get it very dirty and will leave if for ages before cleaning it. However, I've never had a bike before that has deteriorated so badly.

Still think its a good bike, just absolutely sub-standard when it comes to the coatings.
