Warranty question

so I took my gs (2010 ) into the dealers because i had noticed that a few bolt heads had started to rust on my front calipers .

The dealer told me, they we not replace the bolts under warranty due to the excess amount of salt on the road over the winter !
( they didnt ask me if I had rode throught the winter )

So my question is do I just accept this or is there something else I can do ?

I cant see the weather has got anything to do with it , surerly if its under warranty it should be covered and changed , unless theres something in the smallprint states different

If the rusty bolts are the caliper mounting bolts then i would change them for you, if it is the bolts that hold the calipers together it is recommended that the bolts are not touched and the calipers should be replaced but to do that the dealer would require to carry out a PuMA case to the Factory with attached photos who will then make a decision as to if they should be changed under warranty.

If its the caliper mounting bolts the rust is usually caused by the coating being removed by the hex socket when removing the calipers. Hope this helps!!

Your best thing is to invest in a nice stainless steel bolt kit which will solve the problem once and for all

Yeah yeah, I know you shouldn't have to but if you are so worried about rusting bolts, this is your best long term answer.

i've seen evidence of this on many a bmw motorcycle - doubt whether its a warranty claim mind you - i spray mine with a wee touch of rust inhibitor - FS365 or something similar - tends to keep the rust at bay - otherwise go the stainless route as already suggested

+1 worst thing you can use ....but it does keep your hands nice & soft
