Just extended my warranty, and thought others might be interested in the prices:

£O excess, £317 premium
£50 excess, £294 premium
£100 excess, £275 premium

Crash bars were not a problem, the Skorpion system didn't instantly exclude the engine, but if it fails and the cause is attributed to the pipe it will be. Since the system has been on for the last 18,000 miles I figured it was unlikely!

Thats a good idea:thumb2, I'm extending mine also,

I have the akrapovic can fitted by BMW and carrying there part number and BMW stamp on the can, so fortunatly can not be excluded :thumb2

:D

We took out the warranty with a £50 excess on my wifes F650. So far we have only used it to replace the steering head bearings. It looks like the approved warranty will make a profit on us this year, its nice to know you are covered though.
Its worth looking into accident recovery if you are traveling abroad, the recovery service is for breakdown only.

I need to starting saving up,mine is due next april. :blast

I extended mine last June when it ran out. But I did mine on the monthly basis. I'm considering cancelling. I've recently noticed some paint plaking on my sump pan. A visit to NOG, and they tell me it's not covered. On the same day my side stand snapped on the ferry to France, and guess what? Not covered. I'm really questioning the worth of this warranty. The impression that BMW give you is that it is a continuation of the manufacturers warranty. This clearly isn't so.

It's run through Mondial assistance, and they made it clear to me what was and wasn't covered. Nothing 'ancillary' but it does cover the engine and gearbox - all the expensive bits so far as I'm concerned.

JUst discovered how good the BMW warranty really is. Went out for a ride got 150 yds to see warning light flashing, 0.4 barr air in rear tyre. Seemed to be a puncture. Went home and telephoned BMW for assistance. Technician just been out no nails or sharp objects found in the tyre (visual check) but eventually found two air leaks. Technician taken rear wheel and tyre to Pidcocks (25 miles each way) to get it (1) repaired or (2) Faulty tyre - warranty claim or (3) Sharp object in tyre, if not repairable (are they ever), new tyre at my expense. He is then bringing it back at refitting. Best service ive ever had.

I've called their bluff ...

If they are prepared to take that amount of money off me for a third year warranty then they must think they're on a safe bet ;)

By the time the two years were up the bike had covered a faultless 39,000 miles.

50,000 miles now and running as sweet as ever....

Anything does go wrong then I'll work round it, but don't forget that the third and fourth year warranties don't cover all the things that the included two year warranty does

They're taking your money off you, they have it worked out that they'll not lose on the deal (he says with fingers crossed)
:beerjug:

Regarding extending the warranty when you call bmw to extend if you dont want european assist/breakdown cover tell em than its cheaper i paid £245 for the extra year, regardless you will still get uk assist even if you dont have the euro cover as myself, the reason i did'nt want it ive got 2 bikes on one policy and so i have the euro cover via my insurers.

V8legend, you are correct the extended warranty dont cover corrosion, you must have 08 bike yeah! google engine paint flaking its been an issue the fault was the way bmw applied the paint to the casings on some 08 bikes, mine was also like this i made the warranty claim a week before my original warranty ran out and within 24 hrs bmw gave the go ahead i got new engine fitted last week its only done 20 miles, if i was you id make the claim that its a known fault on some 08 bikes get some info of the net to back this up (many peeps have had new engines following the paint issue) and go and have a few words with your stealer....

Thanks for the 'heads up'. Bikes being serviced tomorrow, I'll go armed.
