Warranty?

But in general BMW's are bought to do far greater mileages than the jap stuff.:thumb

Where do you get that idea? Maybe quite a few on here that do a lot of mileage but just look at the stuff on eBay, dealers, Autotrader, etc.

Just checked autotrader and half the GS for 2004/5/6/7 have under 10k so worst case is 8 year old bike averaging just over 1k a year.

It's the riders not the bikes. The GS crowd is now full of jump on the bandwagon born again wannabe cheque-book bikers who watched TLWR.

I don't think I've mentioned anywhere that I'm worried about warranty :nenau. My GS is two and a half years old with 30k on it and it has been great, a few minor issues sorted with no problems, But 30k is the average mileage of a 12 year old Jap bike.:blast I have had at least as many issues on Jap bikes, more in some cases. Please don't think I dislike Jap stuff because that's not true. But in general BMW's are bought to do far greater mileages than the jap stuff.:thumb

You're in the minority, most of the 1200GS bikes sold here have less than 12k - 14k at 2-3 years old

red1 is correct

3 years should be standard

It is on cars to 100,000 miles nowadays

I have the original paperwork for my 95 PD.
Supplied in US from BMWNY.Sold with 3yr warranty.!
When shipped to UK, warranty reverted to 1yr:augie

If you're that worried about reliability, which you must be to be discussing warranty, then you really should consider an overweight, Lardy and bland motorcycle.

Should rename this forum "Paranoid GSers". It hasn't turned a wheel yet!

This'll get you RTW without worrying about warranty

I don't really see a problem with people on here who may be interested in buying the new model discussing the warranty that may come with it.In the same way they are wondering about the price etc etc:nenau It's purely a discussion. You need to calm down a little:augie
Your in the 1200LC section people know very little about it so until it's announced they will discuss..............Is that ok with you.

:comfort

Be my guest and discuss what you want.

My point was that of all the things to discuss about a brand new model I would have thought warranty was probably the last.

Maybe the 1200 fiasco has given people the jitters about the new Vasser Closet!

I don't know why I'm worried anyway, I can't afford one:blast
