Had to do the wife's old bike......all info is out there on chaingang forum..... took me a morning, good chance to service it too.....oil,filter....n coolant. I got away with reusing side casing gasket...but only did coz I forgot to order a new one.
Oil feed pipe is a swine to get casing past, someone off 650 forum got a batch of flexi pipes made up, to replace the ridged one...makes job easier next time.....
More of a fiddle job than technical......go for it
Ah, yes, service at the same time......I spotted a drip of coolant on the pump cover just as I was putting the sump guard back on after an oil and filter change.
DOes the oil return pipe come off completely or just at the bottom end? This is the only bit which isn't clear from the varuios guides.
hi
did mine last summer.
google it on the net & you will find all the info you will need.
good luck & best regards.
p.s. got all my parts to do the job from Rainbow m/c in Rotherham top service.
What an arse of a job, or to be more accurate, what a stupid bit of design, where the clutch cover is essentially trapped by an oil pipe which is in turn trapped by the frame.
After a great deal of twiddling, fiddling, fettling, easing, coaxing and loads of other wasted effort trying to get the cover out from behind the oil pipe I did what any sensible engineer does and directed my energy at modifying out the problem by replacing the rigid pipe (and it's rigid approach to doing the job) with a flexible hose (which allows more errr......flexibility)
hi all
anyone else got a flexable oil line to sell.
just thought it would be a good idea to fit one the next time i do the water pump. however the bike has only covered around 3000 miles since last done,no idea when it will want doing again
many thanks in advance Ronnie.
