What do folks recommend for waterproof plug caps please? On the 80GS I went through a shallow ford last year, 6inches maybe 8 inches deep and only about 2 or 3 bike lengths.... she coughed to a stop with water on the top of the cylinders. Gave it 5 minutes to let the heat dry them out and fired straight up again. I still have the metal originals fitted, and the plug leads are the originals too, so I could propbably do with recommended plug leads to match.. :thumby:

Sorry Si only just spotted this! I use the ceramic NGK jobs that seem to be fine on past bikes.

I use these rubber NGK LB05EMH on my 100gs it has twin plugged heads, standard metal caps on top plugs and these on the underside plugs. Have been using these for last 20 years with no water ingress, available in red or black cost about £7 each, but at present they seem to be out of stock from most selers

I found a lot of options after searching 'waterproof spark plug caps' on ebay.

Precisely, so many it is confusing.

Thank you for the clarification of which ones I need to track down.
Plug leads next, also just as much a mine field... different thicknesses, different marketing blurb that says each one is the best.... are plug leads just plug leads? Or are silicone high performance, low resistance fandango specials really better? :thumby: 7mm, 8mm, 10mm, 11mm....

Anybody ever had any issue with water ingress via the front cover vents? Pretty vulnerable when crossing a ford - and all sorts of electrikery stuff under that cover...

Listening to Elspeth Beard's interview on Airheads 247 Podcast (plug) the one thing she would have BMW change was the placement of the contact breaker assembly, due to fording and water ingress on her R60.

Personally, I have not had an issue. But I'm not as adventurous as...
