waypoint names

Is there anyway to use longer names for waypoint files I think the max letter length i have is 7 digits?

your are using Mapsource V8 NT, if so

Edit / Preferences / Waypoints

But remember that the GPS unit itself will have a maximum length, on the 2610 it's 10 characters I think.

I never, but the 2820 will take up to 20 characters.....
