WC in the South of France

This is the worst ride report I've ever read.:rob

Try again.:comfort:D

Oh and it made down here and back last year too :) going to see the Bhuddists at MontChardon tomorrow, maybe they can pray for extended reliability of my LC so that I can repeat the trip next year too :)

Well I got mine in May, done 1200 miles on it, seems ok. I just haven't taken to it.

I rashly signed up to BMW finance plan & would appreciate any feedback from anyone that has ended one early.

Regretting not buying a late triple black instead

Give it some more time with a bit of mileage on it, oh and if you haven't switched to the dynamic mode it makes the bike feel a lot more involving. Worked for me when I felt the same after getting it.

Might be tempting fate but I have just arrived in Rencurel in the South of France having ridden all the way from Bedfordshire two-up with luggage and my LC is still working! I must have got one of the good ones ;)

A couple of days ago, I was planning a similar post that my WC had done 2000 miles down through the Black Forest, the Alps and into the Pyrenees without a problem. Then the left switchgear stopped working completely. Saturday was fun negotiating Toulouse in the pouring rain using hand signals instead of indicators. The switches started working again later in the day but stopped again getting off the tunnel last night in Folkestone. Another 4 hours home including going right through central London with no indicators. London at night after a 14 hour ride is bad enough, but even worse when you can't indicate to people where you're going!

Back to the dealer...

I had the same thoughts when i got mine in March, but after a 3k mile trip to Austria i luv it:D.Its done almost 8k now and still enjoying it.
Take yours of a long trip and you will probably gel with it by the time you return.

I'm scheduled to do B500 & Austrian / Italian Alps in September, so that 2000(ish) mile trip on horizon.

Its the reach to the indicator switch & exhaust heat that niggles me.

I don't like or have panniers (as I prefer Ventura) maybe panniers act as a heat shield? Also not sure if an aftermarket can addresses the heat issue, have seen some complaints but others say no problem.

Still here and spent the entire day in the Chartreuse Massif and the bike didn't breakdown once! - one more day in the Vercors and then off to the wine and gastromic centre of Beaune on the return journey - fingers crossed and with a bit of luck I might make it to Reims the next day and then Calais the following day - place your bets now on the bike making it back to the UK :D

I really am tempting fate!

I've flown there, driven there, but always when I've been there wished that I had my bike! I've ridden the Col d Soleur to Capbis (pedal power). I know the roads very well indeed around the Pyrenees (I've driven on them many times) and recommend motorcycling there despite not actually having ridden there myself yet - although I have done lots of other similar French routes on motorcycles.

I have to agree with you,I hate the indicator switch.
I have never noticed any exhaust heat issues though, where do find it gets you.I don't use panniers either.
Enjoy your trip:D

The heat is on underside of right leg, noticeable even at A Road speed, but mostly in town. You know on the way to Tesco - what most LC's are used for:)

Made it from Rencurel to Beaune on my LC without incident today :) just a few spots of rain on my screen as I was approaching the Beaune junction - should I call BMW Assist and ask them to wipe it off?

After a wonderful evening in Beaune dining on remarkably fine food and wine - I started the next stage of my adventure, 200 miles of autoroute up to Reims - guess what? My 2013 LC performed perfectly for the whole trip and made it to Reims at 3pm without incident - as I am supposedly riding a beta test bike then I guess I might not make it all the way back to Bedfordshire tomorrow :D

place your bets now!

2 trips to the Alps, 2 trips to Ireland, Scotland, IOM in a year and never missed a beat in 12k mls, bike replaced under warranty after 16mths of ownership because of notchy gearbox..result:thumby:

You'll be back in time for tea and medals ;).

Did you stop at the old race circuit? Was there a month ago.

Just got back to Bedfordshire without incident - the old toilet can't be that bad if it has taken me to the South of France and back two years running :D

Best ride report I've ever read pity about the pictures

You should have got off the motoways and used the back roads France is a great place to tour on a bike

I do and have, but wanted to get back quickly from exploring the back roads in the Vercors this time.

I never do motorways abroad always the back roads its amazing what you see but if time is an issue and lot of miles to cover you have little choice. It just a shame to miss loads of the good stuff I find the trip there and back is is the best bit for me I just head in a general direction and stop where I want if something looks interesting I can just go have a look.
