I've got thee week off so I'm going to go for a stroll up Snowdon on Thursday morning.

Any recommendations for a camp site or cheap BnB near Llanberis.

Bike ride on the Wednesday up to ynys-hir nature reserve.

Weathers looking ok.

Years ago I'd rough camp at the Cromlech Boulders... don't know if that's still ok..?

There is a campsite at Nant Peris just outside Llanberis. It's not great but the showers were okay when I last visited.

The Vaynol Arms is across the road with good beer and good food too.

Thanks for the responses gents, looks like the Watkins path and Llyn Gwynant it is then.

If I'm not back by Thursday evening feel free to send the St Bernard with a single malt :D

Omias thanks for the offer but the mountain calls I'm afraid, maybe next time.

Well I made it back in one piece and what a cracking day it was too.

Hardly a breath of wind and more heat than I needed on a long walk.

Good tip on the camp site and the Watkins path, the path is possibly one of the quietest as it's away from Llanberis and the pen-y-pass.

Looking forward to the next time Crib-goch maybe

No warning lights then :D:augie

Here's a few pics from my walk

First pic is Y Llewydd from just below the summit of Snowdon.

Second is the valley to the south looking up at Snowdon's peak in the distance

Then its the sting in the tail with the loose path to the top (That bit was hard work)

Looking over The Miner's track and Pyg track with Crib Goch at the top. (Very busy)

My home for the night Llyn Gwynant camp site as recommended by Madmikey

Hi PW!!

How's you? not been around for a while. I was in a mate's car the other weekend and could have sworn i saw you in Llandow Race Corcuit. We were on the way out i'm afraid! How's the Watkin Path looking these days? I seem to remember it being pretty sketchy towards the top before it join the last summit ridge, very steep and slippery? Have they improved it much? Curious as i need to go up Gog land to feed the soul again as the South here it making me speak funny!!! Be there in a minute now! D'oh!!!

Who's coat is that jacket like :D

The Watkin was just fine. easy to follow and not too slippery.

Yes I was at Llandow the other weekend visiting young Rossi and Sycomoto as Rossi was pooning round the circuit on his likle racers.

If your up for an amble in Snowdon just give me a shout, don't worry about short notice if I can make it I will.

Cheers

Paul

Did you happen to see a KTM 690 SM hacking around :)

Hi Cuz, didn't see any bike 690's as they were all small SM and race bikes.

But I would imagine a 690 to be great fun round that track.
